Unexpected Track Visit
 

My friend basically called me out of no where and asked if I wanted to go to the drag strip. Ive been curious what my stockish 2.2 would run so I said sure, why not. Ive also never been to a drag race or ever driven in one so I thought it would be fun.

I did screw up a lot aka missed 2nd, but found out what I was doing wrong, and the last four runs kept getting better and better. Unfortunately it was already 9.10 when I raced the last one and they close at 9.00 so I couldnt go again. It is such a thrill and my car is slow as balls.


For being very lightly modded and no expierence I think I did decent for most 2.2. There was an auto 2.4 and he kept getting 16.01-15.97 consistently so when I got my best I was pretty happy.

15.8 is pretty good for a na 2.2

thats pretty damn good for an intake and 2.4 manifold. especially an auto. what track did you go to?

Im not auto Im a 5 speed. The 2.4 SS that was there was an auto. Also it was Great Lakes Dragway

Thanks, I was pretty much dead even with my buddies 2001 Subaru 2.5RS. Whenever he drove it we were getting similar times and my best time was better than his best. When he let another guy drive it though it ran a 15.5 but the guy is a really good driver and got a .002 reaction time. Cant believe what a driver mod can do.

The thing I learned b4 my 2.2 was F/I,on stock tune,if you NLS,you byoass P/E delay.Just from shifting normal to NLS on stock tune and full bolt ons minus the I/m,I ran a best of 15.40 @89mph,but I also grenaded 2 transmissions doing it:lol: you can shift normal from 1st-2nd then NLS the rest and be fine and your E/T will come down a bit.I dropped from 16.18 to a 15.40 just from NLS.:)Just be careful.Dont go too hard on it otherwise youll be on trans #3 like me:lol:

Nope. Hes been making F23 rotated mounts for a while now. There sick, it makes the car so much better. Totally worth its weight in gold.

I didnt NLS, I tried it like 4 times and missed everytime. I think I rushed it and didnt have the clutch pressed far enough though. When I did shift correctly it sure as hell went in a lot better.

Just a side note though. Reaction time doesn't effect your ET. The clock doesn't start until you move and actually break the beam. RT is used more in bracket racing.

For example, You could sit on the line and have a 20 second reaction time, and still run a 15.88 ET
