2010 SSTC f35 mainshaft nut backed off
 

Has anyone ever experienced this. 2012 the transmission was replaced under warranty. Feb 12 2018 and the car locked in Rev while parking. it had slowly been grinding gear around left turns under acceleration slowly over time. found the mainshaft nut sitting on the shaft, the first thread rounded on the shaft and the nut. Transmission has been rebuilt by performance autowerks :twothumbs
after a transmission specific shop completely jacked it up the first time :nono:.

Just wondering if it has been seen.

i havent dug into an f35 yet, so im not real familiar with it, but looking at pictures it looks like the nut should be staked in place. if it was not properly staked in place, that could cause it to come loose. also, there is a crush sleeve that needs to be replaced on rebuild, if that was not replaced during rebuild there isnt proper torque on the nut to achieve the correct preload on the bearing, and over time it will back off. or, its just a build error and it was never set up correctly.

i just finished rebuilding a toyota/getrag v160 (mk 4 supra twin turbo), when i got the thing it had previously been rebuilt. they have a nut on the countershaft that retains 5th and 6th gear, it was floating loose with the retainer plate bolted on over top of it. its clear the 2 gears did not get pressed on all the way before the nut was tightened, and during use those gears seated into place, causing the nut to be loose.

It was punched in place and everything thats what I couldn't believe. really sketchy for a GM reman trans. the threads on the nut seem to have some locking characteristic to them.
