A/C Delete Pulley - A/C Bypass 2006 SS SC
Our compressor has seized on the 2006 Cobalt SS SC. I can't find a delete pulley for this model, does anyone have any ideas?
The car has 372,xxx miles on it and I'm unwilling to sink the $2000 into the car the dealer wants to repair the A/C.

Jeff Reliand (mongorat427) sells "delete" setups, basically a gutted compressor that just acts as an idler pulley.

Have you considered having it fixed at an independent shop or non-dealer? I imagine some place like a Firestone shop where I used to work, could do the compressor for under 1k.

We're planning to have it towed to a non dealer tomorrow, but I want a plan before I just tow it somewhere. It's three hours from home and broke in the middle of the night, our insurance towed it to the nearest dealer.

Take the belt off and remove the two bolts that hold the compressor on
Use snap ring pliers to remove the 3 or 4 rings that hold the AC clutch and pulley on
Undo the hex bolts under the pulley, the compressor guts will fall out when you seperate the two halves(can be messy)
Keep the half that the pulley goes on and reinstall snap rings/ pulley
Wahlah, you have a delete pulley for free, thank me later
