I'd love to have a short throw shifter like that. Does hurst make this style for us? (both the stem and the ball)

BlueSS-supercharged Sep 21, 2008 03:53 PM

eh, im not a fan of the hard core drag shaft style. the knob tho is bad ass and i loved my hurst in my ws6 same style but black. scratched up eash tho more contact points i think

Black08SSTC Sep 21, 2008 03:58 PM

i doubt you will find a shifter like that for our cars because we have the reverse lock out. it is cool though. I doubt it would pass inspection as well i know here in NJ not only do you need the shift pattern showing in the area of the shifter, but you also need the lock out. (im almost positive on that)

Ramphex Sep 21, 2008 05:12 PM

it's ugly and look dumb, just get a normal short shifter

Perfect.disguise Sep 21, 2008 07:18 PM

Whats with all the "drag shifter" and what not it's just the Hurst STS for a Mustang. It came stock on the Shelby GT.

Yeah I know but I just wanted to know if they make it for any car. I just like the style not like I want it to look like a drag racer or something

You dont know if your car has reverse lockout or not?

2.2 and 2.4 do NOT have reverse lockout. I've installed a TWM shifter on my old 2.4 SS and the only thing you need to cut is a small amount of plastic from the shifter base.

OH ok I thought that was the reverse lock out i dunno lol sorry. But it has something cause it wont let me shift into reverse when im in 5th gear. yes i am a noob to manual transmissions. I was looking online and it says hurst is only for cobalt ss so i guess this means I can't get a hurst shifter?

originaladrian Sep 21, 2008 07:35 PM

i kno someone who has taken a reverse lockout mechanism off his car somhow, not a cobalt tho

WRONG. Do you even know what the reverse lock out is? Notice i never said "i think the 2.2/2.4's don't have it"? because i KNOW they don't not just think.

MikeyMo84 Sep 21, 2008 07:45 PM

how bout instead of starting a fight over what a reverse lock out is someone just show him....jesus christ people grow up a little...

dude the reverse lock out is a ring under the shift knob that you have to pull up in order to get it to shift into reverse...the F/I SS's have it but the 2.2 and 2.4 do not have it

/flaming

back to the OP...just get a short throw and put a knob like that on it...simple enough

chevy cobalt 08 Sep 21, 2008 07:54 PM

ohhhhh thats what that is! well then I guess I can't get hurst then cause it has that ring

am I only limited to TWM? or is there others I could get besides hurst since we know now that wont fit

mikedotrudolph Sep 21, 2008 09:57 PM

I know the B&M will fit our cars and its pretty nice, I was wondering if the hurst STS for the SS/Redline will fit our cars? It looks sick as hell. Im not sure if it has reverse lockout or not but if it does, will just a simple remove of it make it fit our cars?

FastSSinNH Sep 21, 2008 09:58 PM

I would love to have a shifter like that...
