isnt the f23 a SS/SC transmission?? i know the ss/sc open diff and limited slip transmissions are going to be equal in strength. only difference is the diff. if i were you get all the gears cyroed treated, not sure exactly how to spell it. do that and get it beefed up more, a performance transmission place should know tricks on how to build your tranny up. thats who you really need to talk to.

hahn has run 11's in their turbo sunfire on a F23 trans with mearly a clutch upgrade. The trans itself can handle it.

ss/sc trans=F35

sorry about that still new to the cobalts, only had for a couple months. still dont know everything about the balts but im getting there. which are stronger the f23 or f35??? may be a dumb question but sometimes, older transmissions can be stronger than new ones.

i know the tranny can handle it...but my tranny was alearner....and its got a decent amount of damage done to it.....when the time comes im either going to buy an f35 and drop it in or rebuild the f23 tranny

these trannies have weak rear ends if you get a better differential the tranny should hold up to alot of abuse.i installed the quaife diff on my ss and its great. im really hard on my car and am suprised in the beating my tranny has takn .

Well i believe the bellhousings are different so you'd have to have someone make an adapter plate if you really wanted to use the f35 but then you gotta think about space issues. Honestly if you want replace the stock on, either have it re-built, buy a brand new f23, or find a used one with low miles on it. Just get a stronger clutch and maybe even a lightweight flywheel if you want.
