Another will the GMPP clutch hold my SS/TC thread....
Ever since I had my car tuned @ 99k miles my stock, original clutch has slipped in 3rd for a split second when matting the throttle from a 40 roll or so. Like the boost ramp is too steep. Never matted it in 4th. I was assured by the tuner the ramp is fine and the problem is my 100k mi. clutch.
Car now has 104k and the clutch is no worse... or better. Still holds but is unable to keep up with the boost ramp.
I see many posts where the GMPP clutch--- NOT the stock replacement SS/TC clutch.... have held lots more hp than I have.
I have a tune and no cat. No other mods.
2 questions.
1. I read about the GMPP clutch not lining up without using ball point pens as an aid. Is this true? Seems many SS/TC cars use this clutch. Why is it not a direct replacement? I will be having a shop install it but do not want any confusion about the "tricks" needed to do the job. They are parts replacers--- not car guys.
2. Will the GMPP clutch hold without slipping from either a third or 4th gear full throttle hit? I do not want to have to explain the procedure necessary to drive this particular car. It's a Cobalt. No instructions required. Get in and drive.
