F40 kit Discontinued?

I have asked ZZP countless times in person and through email/phone calls over the past year since I ordered my new engine from them last spring
"When will the F40 kit be ready?"
Every time I got the same run around "We are just waiting on one part" "We have everything we just need to sort the kits out"

Now that ZZP has a new and improved look for their website there is no longer an F40 kit under the transmission section for cobalts.

Can ZZP chime in or does anyone know is this done for? Is there a better cheaper option out there or something? I have a feeling my transmission will need replaced in a year or so and I want to go bigger/better with it and 4.45s are already hard to find.

I have been emailing Matt, Kyle, Steve, and Zoomer over the past 8 months regarding the is kit. I've had an LSD f40 built well over 6 months. I was told numerous times that it will be available once they fix the bugs, and that get were purchasing a bunch of f40 trans to sell with the kit. Now with recent emails it appears that all they need is the halfshaft. Now, remember, this is the part that has an integrated tone ring for zzp custom speed sensor relocate. The speed sensor needs to be relocated when using the F40 trans because the F35 vehicles were designed to calculate speed from the teeth on the differential ring gear. The F40 does not have a speed sensor bung on tranny case, unlike the f35. So, ZZP's solution was to use a much smaller gear/tone ring in the halfshaft and calculate signal from there. Then, because of their new speed sensing setup, they were running into other issues like calculated mileage.

If what I'm understanding is correct, they still have R&D to finalize on the CV halfshaft, which may be speed sensor related. Sooooooooo, if the re-release of this kit is indeed being held back because of speed sensor issues, it seems to me the easiest solution would be weld a bung on the F40 case. It can be done. I'm sure zzp could fab up a new bung for the f40 kit no problem. The F40 is nothing like the F35 in terms of assembly and disassembly. All you need is new sealant. Seems simple enough to me. I would hope ZZP would chime in and fill us all in with what is goin on with this big bad F40 conversions...

I have had the same thing, half shaft is what zoomer told me was the last part needed then when I got my car tuned I was talking with them about it and saying thats my next weak spot I need to take care of and he told me all about the 6 speeds they have done and told me how much smoother they were to actually drive (I knew all this from reading posts on the forum) but it was great to hear it in person. I have been sold on this kit since I got my balt.

I have been holding off buying an F40 thinking I am going to buy one get it cleaned up and maybe built with lsd and then it will sit.... and sit... and then they will say they are discontinuing the kit and I will be stuck with a $1200 transmission that I cant use.

shop.zzp links to their old site which is probably only up so they have a fall back in case the new one goes down. Its been a while since that one was updated but yes it still has the F40 kit but I am not holding it to high standards since they released a much better new site.

I literally bought one minutes later on ebay lol just double and triple check and research which ones will work. The v6 cheap versions won't work because of the different bell housings, and the preferred is the 07 saab - must be the 2.0 version. I found a thread with some identification numbers and they matched the numbers on the one I purchased. They're out there, just have to be at the right place at the right time. I didn't realize the clutch kit is another $1000 though, for custom fidanza solid flywheel (12lbs) vs the dual mass (26lbs), and zzp southbend stage 4 plus - the highest stage.

Yea, I only did it for reliability though. After this 2.1 and f40 go in, I wanna be able to drive it for a few years and just maintain it.
