Few STS questions...
Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a STS for a better shifting experience.
What do you suggest? If I don't know how how or know anyone who can install one, where can i get this done? |
They aren't that hard to install and come with instructions. Which car do you have? Many people on here rave about the OTTP short throw if you have an SS. I personally have a base so OTTP doesn't have a shifter available for me and I went with a TWM and love it. Shifts are super short and tight. Only negative is it shiftes the all shift points forward on the stick so if you have a big cup in the front two cup holders you will hit them when you shift.

Why don't you adjust it, and move it back? Or does it cause trouble with 2nd gear?

I have an 08 SS TC. I've read a lot of reviews on the OTTP STS and everyone does seem to love it so I'll probably go with that one
I have ottp and I love mine for sure I would recommend it
OTTP STS hands down best bang for the buck by far.
OTTP or BPS
OTTP it is. Thanks boys
BPS shifted like butter for me with solid base bushings, and upgraded cable clamp. I liked it because i could also use the OEM shift knob on it.
i love my weighted knob from OTTP lol. shifts soooo nice lol
i have the Genuine Saab STS Adapter and Genuine Saab Solid Shifter Bushings and it i love it
Looks like ZZP now makes a STS Adapter similar to the Saab one

BPS is great. Plus you know they must have some idea of what their building if their shop has one of the fastest 6 speed GT500's in their class. Don't think OTTP can claim anything like that.
BPS rips on their mustangs too down the track. shift so hard you would swear it was an automatic lol
I know this is old and I still haven't gotten a STS yet. My problem now is that I still wanted to go with OTTP but I read that you have to use their knob. That is a problem for me becuase my girlfriend custom made me a knob for my birthday and I'd obviously want to use it with my new STS (when I eventually get it)
Can anyone tell me if this is true? Other options? |
I think it depends on the thread. Can't speak for the Ottp shifter but the bps I have had tons of different options for a knob.
Yeah it's all going to depend on the thread
Not sure fi there's any way anyone would know how to figure out the threads OTTP uses, I'd really like to use the knob she made for me, it's pretty cool if anyone wants to see. I just need to know what the threads are like so it can be machined correctly and fit properly
Billet Pro Shop would be my choice. Give them a call and ask what threads they use.

They're splined like OEM. I'm unsure of they use a threaded adapter for their knobs though.

If your girl got you a custom shift knob, BPS uses the stock shift knob, just buy theres and problem solved
