Thumbs up GMPP Cobalt Wheel Hop Kit & Clutch Upgrade!

EDIT: Official Press Release! ty SEMAJ07

GM PERFORMANCE PARTS ANNOUNCES LNF TURBO UPGRADE KIT, COBALT WHEEL-HOP KIT AND COBALT CLUTCH UPGRADE KIT

Harnessing extra power from 2005-2007 Cobalt SS Supercharged models is accomplished with GMPP’s new Clutch Upgrade Kit (part number 19212712, MSRP $325) and Wheel-Hop Kit (part number 19211782, MSRP $1,100).

The Clutch Upgrade Kit includes a heavy-duty clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing that are designed for easy remove-and-replace service. The kit’s stronger components enable the Cobalt SS to capture up to 300 horsepower with a decreased rate of clutch failure. It can be used on 2005-2007 Cobalt SS Cobalt SS Supercharged and Saturn Ion Red Line models.

GMPP’s Wheel-Hop Kit reduces performance-robbing wheel hop that can occur under hard acceleration with a modified vehicle. Besides optimizing acceleration and traction, the kit can help prevent parts breakage with high-performance applications. It works on 2005-2007 Cobalt SS Supercharged and Saturn Ion Red Line models.

---------------------------------

Holy damn! Just came across this while browsing the 2009 GMPP catalog (Page 271):

http://www.gmperformanceparts.com/_r...09_Catalog.pdf

P/N: 19211782

MSRP: $1,100

Cobalt Wheel-Hop Kit
Under hard acceleration, wheel hop will slow you down and could lead to a broken or damanged transmission, axle, or other expensive parts. This kit is specially designed to eliminate wheel hop on your 2005--2007 Cobalt SS/SC or ION Redline so that you can get all of your power to the ground.

P/N: 19212712

MSRP: $325

Cobalt Clutch Upgrade Kit
This kit utilizes stronger components to create a package that will be less susceptible to clutch failure in your 2005--2007 Cobalt SS/SC and Ion Redline. This kit is capable of up to 300hp and will give users better performance and more load capability because of increased surface area and extra clamping force.

Am I dreaming or did GM actually come out with more parts for the SS S/C??

This is awesome!

I got a tip from a little birdie once that mentioned 08/09 axles as being the cure for wheel hop on the SS S/C. There may be some truth to that considering there is no wheel hop kit for the T/C.

I would not be surprised if it turns out the axles in this kit are actually T/C axles.

Hey if it works though thats fine with me!

They are stock LNF axles and mounts...

And the clutch is MORE than likely an LNF clutch

that would be logical, esp cause it's the same trans, so there really is no reason why they shouldn't be interchangeable.

woah, big of font buddy? lol

yea but the 08-09 tc's are still having some problems with wheel hop and the gm axles are not rated for 400+ whp so i think the DSS stage 2 axles and the reverse mounts from fast98 would be a better bet if you plan on tracking the car/going for big power...

i could very well belive that, because i'm sure some of the price is the logic that if they break, they're gonna have to warranty the bitch.

yea im wondering if there is gonna be warranty on these parts....

if anything i see them having a warranty for bad parts/defective parts not for misuse, like launching at 5000 rpm then they break lol

either way, im getting the dss axles and fast98/lsjwannabe's mounts...

Added some gmpartsdirect.com links to the top post. They wont work until the parts are actually available though.
