I think i blew a cv joint

I was in a parking lot it was raining and wet, and i had a lil wheel spin(no wheel hop tho), and a nice loud popping noise. no when i turn the wheel it has a loud crack or pop, and try to drive and turn its a loud crack and pop. The whole caliper and disc shake when this noise happens.

I called road side assistance. The tow truck driver came, and because the dealership is closed he has to take it to a safe location. He's like ussually i just leave it on the truck and in my driveway and i will run it over tommorow morning. im like alright, you'll lock it tho in your driveway right>? he's like no need for that, i've never had a problem, and if anyone did come around, i'd get my gun and shoot em! (dead serious look on his face) so i laughed and said that will work.

Does anyone kno if this is covered by the warrenty? i have 18,377 on my 06 2.4 ss so im hoping it is covered.

Haha yes u have nothing to worry about. I have an 06 ss/sc and I blew not one but both of my axles and ripped the cv boots in half on both sides. I brought it in and because they are a very very weak point on these cars they cover them no problem. Mine have been on order for the last week though so depending on the dealer it might take awhile. As soon as I get 800 bucks around Im going to the Driveshaft Shop and gettin some stage 5 axles! Just to be safe!

If you have an open differential, and you snapped a shaft, the car wont move. The broken axle will just spin. Sounds more like a suspension failure.

its not snaped, but when it starts to move and u turn it pops and cracks, and the caliper, disc, and wheel shake hard. like jump. When you reach down and pull on the cv joint you can feel that its lose, and on the other side its tight...so thats y i thought cv... i hope its not suspension, lol but i just called its like 8:15 am and the car isn't there yet...i hope the tow truck guy didn't steal it

Your Half shaft is fine. It's supposed to move the way you descibed. If the shaft broke, the wheel and brake assembly would be uneffected. Your failure is somewhere in the suspension or hub. Or maybe even your tie rod.

Hey Halfcent, I have to side with Brenn8402 on this one. I think that he damaged, but not completely failed the outer CV joint and that is why he is getting all the suspension activity going on. I guess we will know soon though.
