New clutch under warrenty

I just got my car back today with a new clutch and it feel totally different from even when the car was brand new. I got stage 2 and it started slipping so they replaced the pressure plate and the flywheel. Anyways if I let the clutch out not even a half an inch it starts to catch, and its almost like I can tap the clutch and I can change gears. It feels totally different from when the car was brand new, this leads me to believe that maybe "hopefully" GM is putting a different clutch in after all the problems.
Shifts have also become alot smoother at lower rpms "2500"

CobaltSS1 Oct 20, 2006 12:42 AM

thats like my third replacement clutch they have put in my car. I only gotta push it in about 1/2" to shift.

jester Oct 20, 2006 12:46 AM

My original I didnt have to push down very far either, but for some reason it just seems like I just tap the clutch and I can shift, maybe im just not used to the car after my grand prix rental iv had all week lol. But it sure seems different to me.

mines the same way, 1/2 inch to an inch just a simple tap and it shifts, i used to push it to the ground, but i found that i was releasing it rather rough sometimes or felt like i was riding the clutch out, its my first clutch i got 17000kms on her now, but yea its stil feels like brand new

cavy-to-SS Oct 20, 2006 08:17 AM

how did you get them to replace your clutch...gm or 3rd party

cobaltstg2 Oct 20, 2006 03:00 PM

gm replaced mine with 12000 miles on the car and it does feel like a totally different clutch

cobaltstg2 Oct 20, 2006 03:00 PM

maybe just used to the car now ha ha

gm makes a stage 2 clutch? any TSB yet on the clutch issue?

sethallen Oct 20, 2006 07:15 PM

no there isnt a stage 2 clutch, and there is a TSB regarding the clutch getting diff. fluid on it, but it is abuse related (or so they say) and will not be replaced under warranty

StinkBOMB Oct 20, 2006 07:23 PM

Mine's all the way at the bottom. It took some getting used to. Good to hear they fixed you up. :thumb:

Yea im very satisfied with my dealer, they have replaced the clutch and an axel all under warrenty. WSfrasier rode in my car tonight and we both agreed the clutch grabs hard and feels stronger than the stock, but who knows.

Badmunky Oct 21, 2006 10:48 AM

Your the only one happy with ther dealer! Mine sucks. AS much as I love chevy I hate there dealers so much this will be my last one.

Good luck and I hope your clutch holds up this time.

later

ahhh my car has 2000kms on it, and slips like hell.. cant believe it.. really dissatisfying... i gotta call around and see if anyone has had them in for warranty work cause of clutch slipping

g5mike Oct 24, 2006 08:47 PM

My parts guy told me today"that gm is on a mission to decline warrenty stuff on a lot of cars,to look good, like their warrenty claims have gone down

jdeanmerc Dec 28, 2006 04:05 PM

Just took my SS/SC to the dealer this morning because it was slipping really bad. 5500mi. on her and they agreed it shouldn't be happening. Looks like it is all going to be fixed under warranty.

Considering how many clutches they have replaced for free for people who burnt it off because they have no clue how to drive, im not surprised.

Not aimed at anyone in particular. but there are to many people fucking up cars because they "think" they know how to drive, that people who legitimately have a problem are stuck with GM thinking its abuse, because of how many warranty claims they have.

well just got back form the dealership and it looks like they will have the car the whole weekend...good news is that they are covering all of this under warranty! so to solve the rumors according to my service writer our cars as well with all chevys carry a 12month/12,000 mile warranty on the clutch. And FYI my disc is not worn but has faulty springs and the pressure plate was not holding up to par. Also our alignments are covered up to 7500 miles too so i went ahead and had them give her an alignment. Overall I love this dealership because they know how to take care of there customers. So if you are in the San Diego region and need a good dealership go see Brian at Weseloh. anyways. So thats that. I will miss my Balt for a few days. I will give you all an update when i get it back.
