Second opinion on possible deformed rotor?
 

Less then a year ago I complained about shaking when applying brakes at a high speed to a chevy dealer agent. He assumed I had a warped rotor and at the moment I didn't have enough time to have it fixed. Now this was only his guess. Currently its shaking when... At high speeds around 60-80 my steering wheel shakes pretty violently and the car itself slightly shakes. I've also noticed when I slightly turn the steering wheel so that it's not sitting in a normal straight position, the shaking stops. Sometimes when braking it will act up as well.

Does all of this sound like a warped rotor? And if so how much does it usually run to have this repaired?

Rotors would shake under braking.

Did you lose a wheel weight? Not sure about it going away when you turn the wheel though. Maybe a tie rod?

Sounds like u need an alignment. My explorer used to do that bad until I got it aligned

Had it aligned last summer. Also, my front two tires are different tires. The tire place said it could pull a little bit

Anytime you mix different tires on the drive axle you are asking for trouble.

Beat me to it! If you're really that broke and need mis-matched tires, put them in the back, not the front.

Could the damage be permanent?

Probably not, but it's a major safety/driveability issue.

You've got a lot going on it sounds like that *could* be the culprit, it's hard to say for sure that it's the brakes. First things first, get the mismatched tires off the front and see what that does. If it were warped rotors, turning the wheel shouldn't make a difference, as you're not changing how the pad is contacting the rotor surface. I would think you have other issues going on.
