Shifter slop

Does anyone know how to get rid of the side to side play in the shifter? Even with the car in gear I have about two inches of side to side play in the shifter. I know it's not going to be perfect but it just seems like it's way to much

2 inches of play, IN GEAR? holy **** mines not that much. If its that much play you'll need a whole new shifter assembly, so ya Id go STS. Base bushings help as well. I have base bushings on my stock shifter.
