Sout Bend clutch, require or recommend spacer?
 

I'm about to get most likely a South Bend stage 4+ clutch. Is a TOB spacer recommended or not needed? I would like to hear what personal experiences are. Thank you!

I have no experience here but from what I’ve read, you shouldn’t need a spacer and if you do there may be something wrong. Seems like most guys who use them end up having issues.

Yup. I had serious issues with it. Honestly the best thing you can do is email zzp IF your buying the clutch thru them and IF you truly need the spacer. Last I remember they said they used it on their new model of clutch line up. I kinda tested that theory and I didn’t need it on their new line up of clutches. Clutch still worked great. So the customer saved some cash by not buying the spacer.
So with that being said. Just email them if your buying the clutch thru them. I love the southbend clutches. Nice smooth pedal and feel.

Ok. In reading on ZZP's QNA section on the southbend clutch page, I found this, and I am a bit skeptical.


What's the break in procedure for the stage 4

None, really. Should be good to go after install.

I did 500miles not boost under 3k rpms. then another 1000 miles under 5psi. but I was also breaking in a brand new motor.

I gave the clutch 25 psi after 20 miles of constant heat cycles.
