tranny problem.... help please

i just recently picked up a 2008 ss with the turbo. love the car and all but now im having a major transmission problem. the problem just popped up after only owing the car for 35ish days. car has a stock clutch im assuming. car just turned 80xxx.

the problem is while car is running i can run the shifter through all the gears with or without pushing in clutch. the car will not move a inch.feels like there is nothing grabbing the gears when in any gears. feels like its dead.. we bled it today and the pedal stiffened up but no luck on car moving. tranny makes not a single noise with clutch engaged or disengaged. i bought new clutch and all the goodies was just kinda hoping not to have to pull the tranny!

any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks mike.

Yeah you're definately going to have to pull the tranny. If you didnt break/hear any grinding, its probably not your input shaft which is good (=good trans). More than likely its either the throwout bearing or the clutch. But you're in luck, when you drop the trans it takes 5 mins. to look at either part I'm only being an ass cause I've been there. good luck!

Check the simple things first. You might actually not be going into any of the gears if you can move the shifter through all of them. Does it feel like there are still gates you are going into or just like a wobbly stick? Could be that the cables came loose under the console or popped off the tranny, or could be the roll pin on the tranny.

I'm thinking cables are bad.

most likely cause is a popped cable, or a sheared roll pin at shifter mechanism on top of trans.

Um yes to the first and no to the second. The clutch is hydraulic (uses same system as the brakes). The shift mechanism however is cable operated.

The cable probably popped off of the shifter, Happened to a buddy of mine while we were racing down the track. needless to say he lost.
