Transmisson/Shifting Problem

So last night i was driving home from the fireworks, and of course there was a ton of traffic and what not so alot of strain on the clutch i can imagine. I finally got out of traffic and decided i wanted to get a little silly with my car. So i punched it all the way up the shift light from first to second then as soon as i shifted to third, BAM it grinded. I was shifting hard i know and it has happened to me a couple of times, i had an SS/SC a couple of years ago and never had that problem, i have 25k miles and it doesn't feel like my clutch is slipping as it still pulls all the way through the gears.

So should i be worried that i might have jacked my transmission up? Its not a consistent problem or anything i just hate that sounds and it worries me. Could it be syncros? Or just a exhausted clutch being that i was in traffic? Or just driver error?

Thanks, i did use search but i couldn't really find a post that was a duplicate of what i did.

Bump, anyone have any ideas?

It sounds like you were doing a quick shift. Maybe the clutch wasn't all the way in. I've gotten locked out or grinded on a no-lift shift or a quick shift on mine before. I don't think I was putting the clutch in enough during the actual shift, or did it too fast to where the clutch pedal was out of sync with the shifting gears. I just made sure I was doing better clutch work and the problem never came back.

You don't think it messed up anything do you? Thanks for the reply.

Nope, just don't make a habit of it or anything and you'll be fine.
