why do i need a new slave cylinder?
 

i bought a SPEC stg. 2+ clutch and was wondering why ppl were saying i should install a new slave cylinder when changing my clutch?

because if it goes bad.. and they do all the time.. it wil cost you hundreds in labor to change it, or 6-10 hours to do it yourself.

you better change it while everything is apart, they're cheap anyway, why the worries?

you'll see if you do it yourself lol... the haynes manual recommends to change the clutch if you plan on pulling the tranny, unless it's new, or in near perfect shape, so you don't have to go through all the work again next time.

Hmmm, drop tranny again because the slave blew out 3 months after I did a clutch?
Or spend a couple $$$ extra and not have to drop the tranny again for many years?

Hmmmmmmmmmmm..........nah, I don't like pulling trannys.......

Because the slave cylinder fully "decompresses" when you drop the clutch. When it does that is messes up the seals on the slave cylinder. Or can. So new is the way to go.

Clutch, Flywheel, slave cylinder and it prolly wouldn't be a half bad idea to replace your clutch master cylinder as well. Both mine and my buddies went out after upgrading our clutches.
