Will be here Wednesday. I'll try to install this weekend.

Black07LS 08-08-2007 10:52 PM

YES IT FITS
Car is dirty but there's a pic. in my gallery. I couldn't get it to post.

elecblue06 08-08-2007 11:30 PM

W00T I KNEW IT WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTT :D nice man... hows it feel?

Black07LS 08-08-2007 11:45 PM

It feels good. It is almost as tall as OEM shifter but throws ARE shorter. It's about the same length overall, it's like they moved the ball just a little. I modified the RLO to hold up the shift boot. I wasn't expecting the purple but I think I like it.

Use shifter for 00-05. 90's are different and cost more. My shifter was only $40 shipped on Ebay.

andys5k 08-14-2007 06:34 AM

Sweet thanks for the info i have an 07 ls nice to know that something will fit ;)

Schultzay 08-14-2007 01:59 PM

this'll work for the 2.4 also right?? cause we have the same transmission??

DallasCobalt 08-14-2007 02:14 PM

I bought the one on e-Bay that you mentioned is listed for like 3-4 different cars. It fits perfect, is definitely a shorter throw, and I even get compliments from the SS/SC guys about how mine is shorter. For the price, you can't beat it.

thats awesome. hey looks like its time to change the windshield wipers haha

DallasCobalt 08-14-2007 02:37 PM

LOL, that pic is at least a month old and I still haven't installed those. Supposedly, those wipers have a LIFETIME warranty. They're made of silicone instead of rubber, and they last the life of your car.

Schultzay 08-14-2007 02:43 PM

how much were they??

yellowshowbalt 08-14-2007 02:53 PM

it went right on my ls. all i did is take off the reverse lock out and the put it right on.

I think about $8 each at Wal-Mart. Of course, you need 2, so $16 for the set. Click here for the website!

How much was your shifter? All the ones that I saw that claimed to fit A Cobalt were $70+shipping.

DallasCobalt 08-14-2007 04:09 PM

It was $59.99. Then I had to pay shipping. Then I didn't realize that I bought it from a guy here in TX, so I got charged state tax. It ended up being around $75.

If you buy one for an 00-05 Cavalier you can get one for $40 shipped($24.99+$15shipping). That's what I did and it fits good.

just one last noob question. what exactly is reverse lock out and why should i not want it??

Novajoe 08-16-2007 02:28 AM

it basically keeps you from shifting into reverse without lifting up on the little lever thing on the shifter.

Schultzay 08-16-2007 02:32 AM

oh, thats dumb... so its basically for people who can't drive so they don' t accidentally shift into reverse at 60 lol

It has a little metal piece that hits the plastic to keep you from shifting into reverce. Lift the piece under the knob and it can go over the plastic. It just doesn't work on a Cobalt.

You've got it.

DallasCobalt 08-16-2007 12:23 PM

Reverse lockout came stock on my last car (2000 Cougar). I hated it. My short shifter for my Cobalt came with it, I just didn't install it to work.

I had it on my 2000 Cavalier and I didn't like it either. I removed the small metal piece on the R.L.O. and used the Larger piece to hold up my shift boot in my Cobalt. It looks like you did the same Dallas.:twothumbs

it's almost physically impossible to do... my 2.4 L ion doesn't have reverse lockout.. and going into reverse without setting it into neutral for a second just doesn't work.. anything besides coming to a near stop wont let you shift into reverse for me
