Dynoed 10/8/10: Fueling myths or fact?

Did three runs for each AFR test. Here are one of three from each afr category.

Blueline: 12.0 afr 24* max
Green line: 11.0 to 12.0 afr 24* max
Red line: 14.7 to 12.0 afr 24* max
4th gear, 75* air temps, 29% humidity, 100* iat1 & 122-126* iat2

And just for comparison; here's a local stock LNF dynoing 3rd gear vs my 247whp line.

2.7 m62
ported s/c and lower manifold
3" zzp intake
7gph 50/50 mix
jbp header
2.5" catless
2.5" spintech custom catback
dual pass, 4 gallon flow thru
Hptuned

YouTube - 1st run

my friend asks me for my thoughts on my massive 247whp!!! he also likes to ramble lol

Your running way to rich! You would gain a lot more HP if you leaned it out a little!!!! lol jk

I agree with this thread 100%. I have done some AFR testing in the past with very similar results.

Lol... shad ap Eric

This forum has way to much misinformation. I did this today to bust the AFR myth.

This forum has way to much misinformation. I did this today not only to find out how much Ive improved in my last 2 1/2 years tuning, but also to clear a up a the afr myth.
I never tried the 14.7 to 12 thing myself. But I have tried 11 flat, 12 flat and 11 slopping to 12. All three 3 runs were within 2-3whp/wtq of each other.

I'll see if I can dig it my dyno graph.

Hah, the 14.7 seems somewhat logical as it would (theoretically) be the most gradual slope.

I'm still not a fan of just using the same AFR in every cell. Just doesn't sit well with me. lol

Pretty sure its the myth about using the same AFR across the entire PE table being a bad thing versus gradually sloping to your desired AFR. The results indicate it doesn't seem to matter.

bingo

theoretically tho

I still think in a higher boost application such as a tvs or greater, sloping from 14.7 to 12.0 will create less cylinder pressure and prevent popping a cyl.

The operator was super cool

only charged me $100 for an hour of use.

Place is called Precision Z

If you guys ever wanna organize a dyno day... I got his card and can see about setting one up.

now i'm a huge noob to tuning and afr's (still learning before i get tuned) but wouldn't the sloping of the afr's be good for fuel economy as well if the owner desired to save that somewhat?

Hahaha well I know that, but a sloping afr would go across all trim cells starting at 17 which should be idle and eventually getting to wot with the commanded afr. if I'm wrong please correct me, I'm just trying to figure out which way to go with my tune once I get my cmp sensor and phase silonoid (sp) replaced next week

Your losing me... :/

If your tuning yourself... this is all you need to do... get a good base file for a foundation to start on.

MAF tune it to 0-1% error

pick a desired AFR for your application.

Work the living **** out of your timing table (hand smooth, hand smooth, hand smooth, hand smooth)
