door speakers with stock pioneer system????

I have an 09 ss with the factory pioneer system. What speakers can i use to replace the door speakers? I don't want to bypass the factory amp.

TommyP 11-19-2011 03:19 PM

6.5" round speakers will work

sleepy88 11-19-2011 03:25 PM

From what im reading the factory system is 2ohm, most speakers im finding are 4ohm. If i use a 4ohm i will be loosing quite a bit of volume. Is there a 2ohm speaker out there that will work with the stock amps, increase sound quality and not loose power?

JBL/Infinity

does the factory amp have enough power to push those? Something like these seem to be for a larger amp...or maybe im wrong..http://www.ebay.com/itm/6030CS-INFIN...item1c1d0aeb08

Are you raising volume to max level in your car? If not, then your stock amp will be fine with 4 ohms speakers! Just raise the volume and you'll be fine, no?

EmperorJJ1 11-20-2011 02:23 PM

^no... sleepy i would look into co-ax speakers not components. but if you wanted yes you could install those. the stock amp isnt going to give those or any other speakers the full power they can handle but it doesnt matter because u dont really need it to.

sleepy88 11-20-2011 04:26 PM

ok, issue im having is finding 2ohm anything.

cobaltss#01 11-20-2011 04:39 PM

onlinecarstereo.com maybe?

cobaltss#01 11-20-2011 04:41 PM

from what I see they have 49 different 2 ohm options

CDT has some convertible 2ohm coax 6.5's. Then if you wanted to change to a component setup you just have to pop off the tweeter.

EmperorJJ1 11-29-2011 01:43 PM

do yo know if they still offer them?

right i just wasnt sure if they were still available. ive been out of the game as far as current cdt equiptment for a while but with the insane amount of drivers they make they often dont last forever. at the shop we had a 2 ohm m6 set. sounded decent

sleepy88 12-01-2011 08:12 PM

Looking at these 2ohm options it seems they require more power than the factory amp can put out, which make me wonder if just replacing them with the stcok amp will improve the sound quality at all??

EmperorJJ1 12-01-2011 11:50 PM

dont be fooled as far as speaker speakers go not a single one "requires" an amount of power. they just have the ability to "handle" a certain amount if that makes any sense. just like your cobalt can drive 140 mph doesnt mean you have to drive that or not at all.

or a better reference would be tires. if your tires are rated at 140mph u can use them at that speed for an extended amount of time and generally would be ok. you could also excede that by a bit and again be ok BUT for a very very short period. and driving at 35mph or whatever will last for the life of the tire as long as they are roatated balanced ect.

power lets you get louder and often will get the speaker to play cleaner but the cleaner part is sorta complex. all the speakers mentioned thou will improve the sound quality. no doubt in my mind. there's only a very few that wouldn't and your wont really find them in 2 ohm.
