factory radio died.. replacement opinions

sooo my factory radio died AGAIN so i'm looking at replacing it with something what is evenyones opinions on these radios? and if you dont like them .. make suggestions but it has to be cheaper because i have NO money to do this but i cant stand being without music

http://www.amazon.com/JVC-KW-AVX710-...cmu_pg__header maybe i get thats :D

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...350N.html#tabs

it's between those two i think.. power acoustik makes some decent subs but i don't know anything about their head units.. however it's gotten some nice review.. it also comes with all the install shit..

Misery5567 08-21-2009 03:48 PM

Looks like the cheaper one plays a wider variety of video formats.

elecblue06 08-21-2009 03:58 PM

whats going to be the difference of 17 W RMS and 20 W rms?

brickloaf 08-21-2009 04:39 PM

for some reason i cant open the 2nd link, but power akousic dosent make good subs and i bet the HUs suck too, and if the HU you getting only puts out 20rms to all 4 channels, id move on and find another one...

out of those 2 id take the indash dvd but even thats a lower end one.

they're both in dash dvds and it's 20W rms each channel.. usually you see peak and they both have a peak of 50 w

I suggest using a ham and cheese sandwich, they have great sound quality.

Zdeuce4 08-21-2009 04:51 PM

i just pulled the first one i saw. i got mine for 299 shipped on ebay. just make sure not to get a refurb if u dont want one. sometimes u cant tell if theyre refurb or new unless ur looking for it.

Ryum 08-21-2009 05:11 PM

Those seem to be pretty high end radios for someone that has no money.

I mean if there really is a money issue you can get a pretty low priced radio on clutchfield

still has the 1 yr warranty iirc.. or 6months. either way its a good buy. i used that ebay christmas bonus so i got 30-40 off. cant rememeber

elecblue06 08-21-2009 05:30 PM

hmm gotta figure it out

brickloaf 08-21-2009 08:35 PM

50rms max dosent mean shit and 20rms per channel is terrible mine does 50rms per ch and the deck only costs 200, not a indash tho

EmperorJJ1 08-22-2009 12:17 AM

i doubt that. the internal amp in 99.9991% decks is 22w rms or less. very few actually make more (due to the parts needed to achieve more then 22w rms)

elecblue06 08-22-2009 02:26 AM

i'm looking at pioneer 3100 or something.. it's 350 from sonic electronix.. and it comes with install hardware

those are my choices right now it looks like

so it's either the refurb one i posted before.. or one of those.

I don't know if you would be into it, but I thought this was kind of cool when I was looking at radios.
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130CDSR...&search=remote

for me the remotes to car radios in general are pretty impractical. I don't think I am going to drive with remote in my lap so that I don't have to reach to the radio, and at the same time I find I am more attentive when I have steering radio controls than when I don't.
Not to mention the remotes with the 50+buttons. If I am looking on that thing to find a button I might as well be texting while driving with how much attention that takes away. If it wasn't for the extra 100 bucks for the XM tuner I probably would have already got that remote and a pioneer radio to go with it.

EmperorJJ1 08-22-2009 03:26 AM

fuck the jensen for sure...

3100 and 4000 are very similar. only difference is the 3100 actually has a bit of a graphical display you can select and the screen is smaller. with that being said id prefer the bigger screen over the animations and i liked the volume knob instead of the buttons (yet my kenwood has buttons too)

the 800bt is a nice ass unit with bluetooth but no screen. looks clean as hell thou. so if u wanna save bucks this is the one to go with. but not sure how valuable the screen is. its not too much cheaper then the 3100/4000

i like kenwood myself but we tend to do pioneer when it comes to video units. not sure why probably because they are cheaper new but the 512 is similar to the 4000 in almost every way possible

never seen anything like that b4... id just do steering wheel controls isntead thou. its a bitch ya but gotta pay to play right?

Ryum 08-22-2009 04:20 AM

The last thing I have heard I'd have to outright replace my steering wheel to get the normal steering wheel radio controls to work right. So yeah not really an option for me, I will find out for sure when my switch finally comes in though.

EmperorJJ1 08-22-2009 09:13 AM

oh ya u dont have them stock huh... um id verify with pioneer that it woudl work with the new model units. that looks several years old
