Stock stereo not getting power to red/white cable

My stereo keeps intermittently working, most of the time it isn't. I have the a 2007 Cobalt SS with the Pioneer sub. The factory stereo completely turns off, no display, no blinkers..etc. When it does work, it keeps the station memory somehow but not EQ or clock. I used a voltmeter on the red/white cable which I believe should always have power and get nothing. I also checked the fuses for the stereo and amp at the BCM. They are good. I'm not sure if I should pull the BCM and check it somehow (maybe it is cutting off the power) or bypass it with a direct cable to the battery from the stereo plug...maybe run an inline fuse. Any advice?
