Question Pioneer Tweeter's Question?

I have the pioneer sound system in my cobalt. I replaced my front speakers with 6.5 inch Kicker Component speakers running off a 4 channel kicker amp. I mounter the tweeter in the woofer. Now when I unplugged my stock woofers the stock tweeters stopped working. Im gueesing the woofer needs to be wired parallel to the tweeter to keep the impedance right for the stock amp. So what I did was I ran a direct line from the tweeter through the door panel with plans on wiring it to my decks harnest. My deck is 52 watts x 4 so probaly 25 watts rms x 4. Will 25 watts power those tweeters enough to sound good. I also want to put on bass blockers to filter out the lows that didnt make it through the decks high-pass crossovers.

So what I really need to know is if 25 watts rms and bass blockers around 800hz would bring my pioneer door tweeters back to life?

Thanks

the stock tweeter should be on its own channel on the amp... but i have no idea what kind of crazy **** pioneer did. But ya 25w is enough just make sure you dont clip the deck. Also make sure the ohm level is right on the bass blockers... id also try to get some higher up in the freq range like 1 or 2khz

i belive they are 2 ohm because the amp is a 2ohm stable amp and the sub and 6X9s are 2 ohm for sure

its sorta hard to explain clipping but basiclly if you hear distortion you want to turn it down. Problem is its hard to hear that point on tweeters especially when you have other speakers in the car. Id try running a regular speaker off the deck only and turn it up as loud as you can until you hear distortion then turn it down a notch so you dont hear it any more and make sure not to turn it up higher then that point once you have the final setup done.

like i said i think they are 2 ohm... im not sure thou. Test them with a digital multi meter and see. If they are theres a good chance they will fry your decks amp (hopefully just the amp but who knows)

Now I have no idea how to wire them. Running the tweeter parallel with another speaker on my 4 channel would work but it would be to much power at a two ohm load. Its 90 x4 at 2 ohm and 60x4 at 4 ohm.

would it work if you just hooked the tweeters up to the door speakers, so no extra wires are run?

i wouldnt hook them up with the door speakers for various reasons(at this point) but that all depends on the ohm of the tweeters. If you cant test them with a DMM i would take them to a local stereo shop and ask them to do it for you. they shouldnt charge and if they try to dont pay just walk out.

If you dont know the ohm level of those tweeters i wouldnt try to incorporate them into the install because the chance of blowing them becomes really high. IMO the easiest thing to do is buy a set of aftermarket tweets if you want to run 2 sets.

since you bought the components and opted to mount the tweeter on the woofer, i would say take a shot at modding the stock pioneer tweeter location to put the kicker tweeters in. problem solved.

its actually very easy to get a tweeter in the stock location... or you could do what i did (complete pain) and take the ls piece and mold the tweeter in that

after cutting out mine and inserting new ones, I found out I can just pop them out with 2 screws and put the new ones in. they are about the same size....no Outside (interior of the car) modifications needed) I will be doing that on MY Blue car.
