Power Problems

So I bought a Kinetik hc1200 and dropped it in but my amp still cuts out and my speedometer lights still dim. Could the gauge of the wire have anything to do with it. Its 1000w amp with 8 gauge wire

1000w rms? It might be your alternator? Not sure. I'm running around 900 rms and my headlights used to dim before I switched to hids
