Question about Wiring Harness

Okay, so I'm working on installing two 12' Kenwood subs, a 2000w Power Akoustik Amp, an Aftermarket head unit into my 08 Cobalt Sport. So I went to walmart, and picked up the wiring harness that said for ALL GMC 1992+. So I snagged that one, as that was the only one that made any bit of sense. I get back to the house, take of my stock head unit, and the harness doesn't fit. We were gonna rewire the car, but I didn't want to do that.

So I called best buy and they said due to the fact that I have the pioneer upgrade, it has a 250w built in amp to the stock head unit. They said that I'd need a special wiring harness to avoid the system burning out that amp. They told me it'd run about $150.

I'm a bit of a stereo noob, therefore I'm asking you all is this correct or is there another option?

Thanks for all the help.

is that correct. technically yes it is but they do make a normal harness you can use if you wanted to. read the FAQ for the difference. also walmart harnesses and kits stopped being correct in about 95ish

Where can I find this harness & will it work just as good?

will it work as good? no but it would work.

the expensive harness is best for the pionner setup retains onstar and retains chimes

the cheap harness is slighly harder to install, no onstar, no chimes, and while not best for the pionner setup it works

I used the cheaper harness and I'm very satisfied with it. I don't care about on star and the door chimes annoyed me so i was happy to get rid of those. It was pretty simple to install as well. Though I've probably done about 20 head unit installs over the years so i had a pretty good idea of what I'm doing. Haha

The harness I used is for a 07 ion/vue.No chimes but I 'didnt mind and was only like 15 bux.
