Serious help with Mini h1 retro
What do you guys do from this point? Cant attach bulb holder because it sits so low, EVEN if i cut down the bulbs opening section it still probably wouldnt sit far enough out to get it on.]
http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...23056787_n.jpg And now that i figured that out, the god damn locking nut cross threaded while i was taking it off and wont friggen budge either direction, someone HELP! shards of metal everywhere from me using needle nose plyers to try and break the nut free but it wont budge. |
dude, FFS, you have to cut that part off the back of the headlight thing before you put the shit on there.
Take that shit off and cut that piece off so you have a flat mounting area for the H1. Needs to look like this: http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...211_185637.jpg |
Cut that ring off the back so it's flush
|
Take that headlight piece off of the assembly, there should be 3 black clips that are pushed onto little balls.
Pull that out and then use a hacksaw or whatever to cut the ring off, then you should be able to get that thing off of there. |
yea that was only a little bit of the issue, now the locking ring is cross threaded from taking it off somehow, been trying for an hour and it will barely move either direction, going to have to cut it off with a dremel
|
Oh you said the lock nut is cross threaded? Time for a new projector! Looking at all those metal shavings looks like the projector is ruined. Mike or TRS can get you a new one. I got a "value" projector from TRS for cheap then just swapped the lenses. You gotta be really careful with that nut, make sure it goes on smoothly without force every time.
|
Yea just get a new one and sell the lens out of that one or something and recoup a little cash, i hope those aren't the 120 dollar morimotos. :(
|
Yeah, that sucks man.
Take your needle nosepliers and hold that lock ring, then grab the projector and pull on it while "unthreading" it. Based on how little thread youre on you should be able to save the ring and projector once yu get it apart. after its apart you need to cut off the back of that housing like shown in my picture above. Then when you reassemble it you SHOULD be able to salvage this. |
