Stock sub removal ?
 

Hey I have the pioneer sub in my car but i put in a custom box with subs ect... My question is how do you remove the Pioneer sub and box. (The black box in the corner of the trunk)

if you look at it, there are about four holes, shine a light in there and you can see the little bolts.

yep, it's kind of a bitch, and when i did it i had to use a long extension and FORCE it in till it reached the bolt.

i had to use several extensions and that was worse.

Ok thanks I was trying and trying and I could not get it i will try again with a bigger extension. Do you know the socket size?

IIRC it was like a 7 or 8 mm, but don't quote me on that.

i think i used like a 1/4 inch socket on some 10 inch bar i got someplace

yea, and afterwards have fun getting the socket back out :lol:

Its a 10mm socket and you have to get a deep socket plus an extention due to the length of the screws that stick out through the nut.
You'll find its a worthy investment due to the fact that there are alot of things on the car that take that same socket size, the batt. leads, the bolts that hold the headlights in, ect. I think I picked one up for under $10.

I think a teacher of mine back in grade school told me that the reason for the two different systems is that the US was unwilling to have the same system as us humbled canadians, I can see now that the a**hole was lying, who lets these kinda people teach kids??

offically, the US is a metric country, however, english is still used a lot. but nuts/bolts have been about half and half for years.

yes. the delta cars (cobalt, pursuit, g4 and g5) are put together at the lordstown assembly plant in ohio.

so what countries still use english?

In the Guru's defence I know alot of the parts or sections of the cars used to be built in Canada, My grandfather was a foreman at the V6 plant in St. Cathrines Ont. They closed the plant down, boxed it up and shiped it to China, like that movie with Micheal Keaton, (can't remember the name). They asked my grandfather to help with the setup of the new plant in China but he retired instead and thus my employee discount for GM cars was born.

I always thought it was just us (Can) that worked o of both systems, its kinda the norm around here, if you were to tell me the temp in celsius I wouldn't have a clue what you were talking about, I grew up on this side of the border, but right across from Buffalo/Niagra Falls NY area so all the TV stations we had were American, Canadian TV sucks, and we all know that TV raises the kids so..
The point I was trying to make about the teacher was more that they make it seem that you guys (Americans ) wouldn't lower yourselves to use anything that came from Canada, this is what I' finding out to be lies, I guess you guys aren't as bad as we have been led to believe. That Amero or whatever its called is going to change all this though, should be interesting. Does this mean we have to start chiping in on your war budget (lol)

the biggest issue that i have with metric is that a lot of folks seem to believe that it is a better. 1 foot is not any more of less accurate than 1 meter. a measure is a measure. to me, i'll probably always think in english, and a lot of metric users treat us like we are "backwards"

To remove the stock sub you need a 10mm deep socket, a 8" or bigger extention and a socket driver ( sorry brain fart on the name ).
There are 4 nuts that hold it on, unscrew them, then unclip the wires at the top a guess what your done.
If you want to remove the cd player, unhook the negative lead from your batt.
1) unclip the trim piece on the dassh over the glove box, the one that says SS on it, just pull it out, it migh take some force but try to be gentle as not to break the clips, this goes for all dash pieces
2) unclip the piece on the left of the cd player over your ignition
3) this should have left 2 gaps at the top of the trim around the cd player, pull it out from those gaps but be careful at the bottom for the wires for the heater and if you have an 07 the wires for the heated seats, you just want to leave it there but don't let it hang by the wires.
4)around the cd player you will see 4 black bolts holding it in, they require a 7mm socket. take them out, pull the cd player out and unclip the harness from the back and your done

Me and my cousin were on vacation in Virgina Beach, about 10 years ago, We meet these two girls from Boston, so we got to talking and when we told them we were from Canada the looked at us like we were from mars, then they asked how did you guys get here, we told them we drove, with total suprise they asked "you guys have cars up there" We laughed like it was a joke but they were not kidding, like civilization as they knew it stoped at Buffalo.

wow what a waste of money that little guide is. im sure we have how tos on this. i'm going to be making a how to install your radio into a LAN setup car this weekend. 07 G5+ and i believe its the same for cobalts not sure off the top of my head. i have an 05 so wouldnt know about the 07
