Upgrading sound system in base model NEED HELP
 

So I am nobody to talk when it comes to audio, I have no clue about specifications or what have you but like anybody though who doesn't like loud music? So I'm getting stumped on which sub and amp to get. I have an aftermarket headunit the blaupunkt san jose 120, aftermarket door speakers with peak power handling of 300 watts and RMS power handling of 30 watts 4 ohm impendance per coil. Should I get a DVC sub or SVC sub? What power of amp should I get? Don't want to spend an arm and a leg either currently paying college tuition.

How many do you want to run? Size? Budget?

Audiopipe is good for lower budget builds. NVX is a little better. Thats what I use in my cars. Theres also no reason not to get a dvc sub. You have more wiring options that way.

Just looking to run one 10" sub so I can save some trunk space, budget I want to stay under $300 for sub and amp

I haven't been in the audio game for a while but I can give you some pointers of what to look out for.

It sounds like you are only installing a single subwoofer. Don't get caught up in DVC vs. SVC but just know that your sub needs to be matched to your amplifier as far as Ohms/resistance and RMS or nominal power. Don't even pay attention to "peak" watts as it is mostly just marketing wank that doesn't mean anything significant. You want your subs RMS watt rating to be higher than the amps RMS rated watt output. You also want your subs resistance to ideally match or be higher than the stated resistance your amp can handle. If your sub has lower resistance than the amp is designed for it will most likely overheat it and the built in protection circuit will kick off the amp. If your sub has higher resistance than the amp is designed for it will not harm the amp you just won't be getting the most power from it you can. Ideally you would have them match. You really need to pick out either an amp or the sub and then match it with the appropriate other component. Depending on the amp you choose it will determine whether you want SVC, DVC and what resistance. With multiple channel amps and the ability to bridge outputs, the different coil options come into play. If you keep it simple though you can get a single channel amplifier with an SVC sub with a resistance that matches what the amp is rated for. Things only get more complicated when you have bridgeable multi-channel output amps or multiple subwoofers.

IMO the subwoofer enclosure or speaker box design/materials is more critical to the sound quality and output than the actual subwoofer itself. You can put a crappy sub in a great box and it will sound good or an awesome sub in a crappy box and it will sound like shit. Personally I would either build your own or splurge a bit on a properly designed subwoofer box. Look for a speaker box with a nice sized port but make sure the port has decent length to it. Sealed enclosures are good for punchy bass like kick drum but ported will give you better rumbly bass. I'm personally not a huge fan of bandpass boxes.

Pick out your sub and match an amp to it. Keep in mind that wiring it in series or parallel with change the impedance. So if you get a 4 ohm DVC sub, you can wire it at 4 ohms, or 2ohms. Just make sure the amp is stable at whatever you choose. Most are stable down to 1 ohm. A class d monoblock is what i would go for.

Looks like a nice subwoofer, I was thinking kicker but now I’m gonna start looking into this one

Never was a fan of kicker. ive tried their cvrs, and cvxs before and they never sounded clean to me.

kicker is for volume not for clarity. regarding the sub since its a dual 2 you need either a 1 ohm stable mono block or a 4 ohm stable bridged 2 channel (most 2 channels are)... also the 2 channel will be less efficient than the mono in most cases (meaning more power draw to give the sub the same power)
