How do you have your vacuum lines run?

startingline05 06-24-2011 09:41 PM

ill try to explain it the best i can

-top of the waste gate to boost controller
-boost controller to mani
-mani to bottom of waste gate (2 tees in that line 1 for boost gauge and 1 for fuel regulator)
-mani to bov
-mani to evap
-mani to brake

05Slowline 06-24-2011 09:49 PM

i wouldn't t off of the wastegate and am iffy on using an im reference for the wastegate although that's probably not your problem
why are you using the top port on the wastegate if you have an mbc
also, mani to evap? what? that goes into the throttlebody..

startingline05 06-24-2011 09:52 PM

what is an mbc? and i just hooked it up by the tags that zzp had on each line

05Slowline 06-24-2011 09:53 PM

manual boost controller

i was told bottom port on the wg for it, and top is unused unless using ebc idk

startingline05 06-24-2011 10:20 PM

hmmm...i dunno. i found a plumbing supply store that is open till 12 tomorrow so im gonna go there and see if i cant get what i need to make a boost leak tester.

the s252et. thats a 3 inch for the intake side correct?

05Slowline 06-24-2011 10:28 PM

the turbo outlet is like 2.25 or 2.5 where you connect your cp to
the compressor housing is 3" where your intake connects

05Slowline 06-24-2011 10:32 PM

turbo outlet on it is actually 2.0 just looked at when i ordered my couplers

startingline05 06-24-2011 10:41 PM

so i need a 2 inch coupling for a boost leak tester then correct?

05Slowline 06-24-2011 11:04 PM

the ic piping shouldn't be 2" mine is 2.5 and 3" mix idk what zzp sends with their kits, not sure how boost leak tester works or where you hook it up at

startingline05 06-24-2011 11:06 PM

you hook it up to where you put your intake on your turbo. then you put about 20psi or what ever you normally boost at. if it holds its fine if it doesnt you can listen to where its leaking out at. lol i have been doing some research

05Slowline 06-24-2011 11:09 PM

you hook it up to the compressor housing? wtf lol. that would be 3" if that's where it goes

yup and the boost leak tester i made works wonders lol. i found a nasty boost leak which is causing the car to idle at -22 which is making the bov stay open. its leaking on the bottom of the manifold from the air charge sensor. i took it off and put some perminex copper around it but it still leaked. so i tightened it alittle more and broke the damn sensor. i just ordered another sensor. so we will see what happens when i put the new one on when it comes in

my boost gauge is saying 22hg that is why i am going with the pink spring cause thats what it is rated for. i will have a few days before it comes in so im just gonna keep trying different things. what im thinging is the bov is staying open because i have a leak somewhere.

also i tried something new. when i disconnected the vac line that goes to the bottom of my waste gate the blow off valve closed. is there something that could cause that?

if you disconnected your wastegate vacuum line you just created a vacuum leak. this is why your bov closed because spring pressure in the bov over came the lower vacuum signal to the bov due to the vacuum leak. you do not have a boost/vacuum leak. your bov spring is too light. put a stiffer spring in it or keep adding some shims/washers until the bov no longer stays open at idle.

i did order a different spring just incase. but i have a nasty vac leak coming from under the manifold where the tmap sesnor connects. im gonna fix that first and see what happens and if it still does that then i will just have to try a different spring. thank you

05Slowline 11-05-2011 07:54 PM

did u have to use the other spring?
