ZZP Kit for the 2.2
 

Hey guys, this is my first post...ive made the switch from *************** and thought id post on here from time to time :)

I was just wondering if anyone has used the ZZP kit on the 2.2, ive seen some videos on youtube of stage 3 2.4's running 11's and sum crazy stuff, but have yet to see a 2.2 :/
ZZP says it will fit the 2.2 engine but id have to do my own PCM tuning which is cool but i wanted to get some input from you guys

Dont think anybody is doing it. I was seriously considering, but am going a different route.(no reflection on ZZPs quality, it was the only kit I was looking at)

the kit will fit. you just have to get tuned via trifecta

The Kit does bolt up, and install the same as if it was a 2.4 LE5 motor. Like stated tho you have to use Trifecta tuning to get your tune set in. And Trifecta does good work, if you have a person that knows what they are doing.

guess ill be the first 2.2. wont be till the end of jan tho. money problems now :[

which stage will you take?

I'm doing a 2.2 install one I get the money/tax refund... I'm only going stage 1 for now though. I have around half the money, so now I'm just waiting.

honestly i'd get stg 3 and use a manual boost controller and request a 7 psi spring .. that way you have the option to upgrad easily and you don't have to pay more down the line

the craftmanship of the kit is great.. the only problem that was had on the 2.4 in nj was ecm issues which you wont have on a 2.2

Thats a big upgrade, not one that falls into the "just in case" category. Youre talking about adding $1200 to a 1900 kit. I am sure ZZP would sell you the intercooler setup at a later date. The rest of difference is the extended tip turbo and blowoff valve.

then if anything i'd do a stg 2 with 60 lbs injectors

Thats still 600 dollars, and at 7.65 an hour thats kinda hard to budget.

if you are only making 7.65 i would not boost your car if it's your only car.. you don't make enough if something goes wrong

I thought that too and came pretty close to putting myself in debt. I'm 19 in college and boy do i wish i wouldnt have wasted the money i had saved up in my bank account

you aren't paying for your own car payment or insurance on 7.65 /hour .. do that before you add a big mod like boost..

Cars been paid off, and yes, insurance is being paid. Its only 110 a month, and I paid that off until August 2010.

7.65 for 30 hours a week is enough money to do a boost project.

so you bring in after taxes like 700 a month.. so thats like 690 after insurance .. thats like 4 months to get the money for the turbo setup, idk how your installing it.. if you get it done at a shop thats anywhere from 2-4 months of pay.. then if anything goes wrong.. thats another 4 months for an engine rebuild

so yea i'd say save up for a good year then you'd be "safe" other wise .. you'll have to put every cent of your paychecks into boosting the car / saving and you wont be able to do anything

^^ if he knows what he' doing, let him do it. I was making minimum wage when i boosted mine...everything worked out. He just has to do whjat i did...calculate how much it will cost, and expect it to cost double that
