118.9 @ 41.0!

So I had to make a round trip from Dayton to Cincinnati back to Dayton today and I figured I would keep track of my MPG.

Results:
Miles Driven - 118.9 miles
MPG - 41.0 round trip (44.1 on the way down, and whatever on the way back up)

When speed limit was 65mph I drove ~67-68mph
When 55 I drove ~58-63 depending on how bad the construction was
In city I drove whatever the posted speed limit was for the most part +- a few mph

My Mods:
GMS2 Pulley
Injen Cai
ZZP 3in DP with HF cat
60's
Custom Tune(Not for MPG)
Sportlines
16" Steelies with Firestone Winterforce (I know i need to put my rials back on)
Car has highrise

I think that is everything that matters.

I saw another guy had similar results, anybody else have any input?

How much do the 60's affect the accuracy of the fuel economy?

Discuss!

I'm guessing you just went by what the DIC said cuz I doubt you would've gotten that good of MPG if you figured it out manually...could be wrong though.

Yes please check it manually.I read in Car and Driver about a year ago, they tested a few cars' mpg and the accuracy from the DIC.I believe the Prius was off sometimes about 13-14 mpg vs.actual, none of the cars tested were accurate, some close but none were right on.

The 60's will throw the DIC off quite a bit. With 60's in, my DIC said I got 52mpg last year on a trip from Dayton to Findlay. Actual was around 43mpg, iirc.

Over 40mpg is pretty easily obtainable... driving 65mph on the interstate with cruise control activated... I used to get over 40mpg on both of my set-ups... 2.8"/42# and on my 50trim/60#.

I have 60s in my LE5 and my DIC is still as close to reality as it was stock... It doesn't show anything outrageous. mid-20s (city) to mid 30s (highway). I usually just do some quick math in my head to see if it's close when I fill up, and if it is I believe the DIC's numbers.

With 60's it can get off a bit, you probably were seeing something closer to 32-36mpg? which is still awesome! I have 60's w/ 2.9 and I get about 280 miles per tank and thats with highway miles. Anyone else get this much?

on 91-93 I can obtain 350 to a tank with a lot of highway driving.

Next is to find out how much I can get with a tank of e85. I am pretty certain mid 200s isn't an issue at all.

i bet with 80s you can just hear the motor slurping down the gas at idle. :P

Meh, that's weksos. On improperly tuned 80's running 93oct... and doing 80mph the whole time, I was getting 350 a tank on my trip home from Florida. You should easily be able to do better than that.

On my 2.8/42# set-up, I was getting close to 440 miles to a tank on my long trips.

Turbo and 60's netted me close to 500mpg on one tank... that was going 65mph though.

With 80's and E85 I was getting 200-240miles a tank in the city... depends on how much I romped on it... On the Highway, I think I saw 260, 250, and 285 on the 3 tanks that I paid attention to... and that was doing 75mph on the first two... and I think 65-70mph on the last one.

I've got a 50trim turbo though. No S/C...

With proper tuning... they don't really spray much more fuel at idle than other injectors...

My DIC was reading 41mpg for a while, then my fuel pump died. After replacing it I went back to "normal" ~32mpg.

I'd replace your fuel filter and then see what kind of mileage you get.

My theory is that a clogged fuel filter strained my fuel pump to death. Before it died it probably wasnt flowing as much fuel as it should have, thus the increased MPG.

i drove 280km today and only used 3/8 of a tank... was getting anywhere between 5.4 to 6.7L per 100km. average speed was between 70 and 90km/h on the backroads. 40mpg imperial is easily possible.
