Bad SSSC fuel mileage?

idk if its right or what cause it says I'm getting 20mpgs average. mix of highway and city.

i haven't really gotten on it for it to be so low, idk why it is tho. half tank gave me 160 miles to drive on.

And is there a way to show current fuel mileage and not just average?

Just so you know, if you've got aftermarket injectors, that average MPG reading will be completely wrong. You need to be calculating it by hand. Only the 08+ cars show "instant" milage.

There could be many reasons for this, but let's start at the top. Hand calculate your MPG by dividing miles driven by gallons put in. A great app for this is GasBuddy if you have a smartphone.

Next, what year is your SS/SC, how many miles are on it, and do you have the high rise spoiler?

I am getting really good mpgs... and I have the 06 with slightly more miles. When is the last time you have done spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, oil change. All that stuff. Check your tire pressure. Shift at around 3k without going into boost... do you have a clean throttle body?

Check the simple stuff first..

Do a tank and reset the fuel mileage thing. Drive the tank of gas.. Calculate the mileage by hand, miles driven on that tank/gallons put in at that fillup. compare to what your car said.

Since this is only your third day with it my guess is that everything is fine and you are just spending too much time listening to the whine
I get between 325 and 600 KM(200-375m) to a tank depending on how I am driving. Stay out of boost and use the vacuum portion of your gauge to maximize economy and you can great gas mileage out of these vehicles

Seafoam in the gas tank is a good start. Check tires. Just normal stuff you'd do for all cars to make sure you're getting the most out of your gas.

I have an 06 ss/sc with 70k miles and I get a reading of 26 avg in city and 34 on highway. I only use 092 Ethanol Free gas which increases my MPG by 2 or 3. I also have Injen intake with high rise. I never trust the computer for an accurate reading so I'd do the math if I was you.

alright ill check that and see what happens!

but I'm not sure if there is but is there some gauge or something that can give me real time mpgs? my dads 99 ram has one my grandmas 11 durango has it. maybe its a dodge thing haha

it don't seem like my average mpgs is even the mpgs I'm getting if that makes sense.

Full tank is 13.2Gallons. 160x2=/13.2=24MPG. Safer to fill COMPLETELY up and do it that way.

or you could just reset the trip meter. Fill the car up with the trip at 0. Drive a full tank, or until you want to refil. Fill it till it clicks full again. See how many gallons you put in. Divide number of miles on trip meter by number of gallons you just put in the car.

I know it was just a guess. But saying half tank gives you 160 miles then mulitplying by 2 isn't even gonna be close. One of those things where first half might last 160 miles and the second lasts 200. My car does that all the time.

Having a gauge that shows "instant MPG" is a horribly inaccurate way to know how you're doing on gas, it might help you drive more efficiently, but it won't give you any idea what kind of MPG your getting.

yeah I'm just going to fill it up and do it that way.

I just wanted the instant mpg so i know what I'm getting at that time

Your not getting that bad of MPG'S if your romping on it.. AS stated above just over 13 gallon tank means your netting 22+ MPGS by my rough calculations. For the record if you keep your foot out of it you can see 400+ miles to a full tank! I would see that on only 12.5 gallons out of my old 07 ion redline with GMPPS2! Do some basic's like check tire pressure and if you think it's time do a fuel filter and sea foam and change the oil and spark plugs while your at it. All very easy on this car!

400? that is awesome! haha

Im not too worried about gas right now cause i just got a job, and 45 for a full tank vs my trucks 120 is still a win haha

but i think i may do plugs and sea foam today! just to do it cause its never been done with 50k
