Racing Fuel....?
 

Sorry guys this may be in the wrong forum, but does anyone know any stations that offer 100+ Octane unleaded racing fuel in or around Grand Rapids, MI? There used to be a sunoco that sold 100 octane when i had my turbo Civic, but they have since discontinued it! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

not sure about a gas station man, but nearly all tracks have race gas you can use. might see if you can get it from them

you cant just switch over to ethanol, he is looking for 100+ octane regular unleaded fuel

I get Cam2 110oct in Toledo, OH at a Speedway Gas Station. You have to take a gas can with you because the hose isn't long enough to reach the car. $6/gal is what it was at last I was there.

While your right, it may not be compatible with the fuel system... it actually does not burn dirty. It has almost the same emissions properties as gasoline.

You can buy conversion kits though. And I'm pretty sure it burns just as clean, if not cleaner than regular gasoline.

I thought I had remembered seeing where the exhaust condensates (which are not related to emissions) were worse with E85. Prolonged use could (likely will) corrode the fuel system and damage the seals on cars not rated for it. The car should still run on E85, might have to enrich the fuel tables since it has a lower energy density.

Actually, if it lubricates worse than normal gasoline it could do some decent damage to the high pressure pump & injectors on the LNF application.

Probably would be easier to just find race gas lol, I just had heard of some other FI applications playing around w/ E85 because of the higher octane.

Doesn't methanol also effectively provide the same benefit of a fuel with increased octane?

Anyhoo, I'm still confused why this is in the hypermilling section.

I'm confused as to why someone would think they need 100 octain race fuel if they weren't running a 12.5 to 1 or higher compression engine. Its a waste of money.

YES even if you can up your timing cause you hit a point where the cylinder temps are tooooo high and you cause damage to the head or piston tops. My 1980 Turbo Trans Am melted its cylinder heads between the intake and exhaust ports on 100 octain Sunoco race fuel 10 degrees of timing and 24pounds of boost. It was UGLY!

Then I said fuck tiny engines with turbos and went with the big block and never looked back. Ran low 11's for 10 years without ever having to pull a valve cover! BTW that started back in the early 90's when low 11 second daily driven street cars weren't a dime a dozen. All motor also with sreet tires thru the mufflers. I was trapping 142mph with well over 2.60 60" times due to MASIVE wheel spin.

I was running 9's back then.
