My gf's stock 2006 SS/SC got 37mpg on our last 1000mi trip. that was 100% highway going 65-70mph.

OzzyruleZ 12-31-2008 04:51 PM

My modded SS/SC got 37mph highway too. Hard to believe huh?

klownin04 12-31-2008 05:32 PM

thanks for the help guys can i get some more input

1badBlueberrySC 12-31-2008 05:34 PM

I get around 35+ on the highway with my 2.7 pullied 06

If you can keep your foot out of boost on the 08+ they get good gas milage as well!

Acey 12-31-2008 05:35 PM

It's more how you drive than anything. XFE has different tires/taller final drive which hinders acceleration but adds a few MPG's. XFE = 2.2 = no power. Just a ploy.

1WhiteSSTC 12-31-2008 06:40 PM

bar none, any cobalt u get a custom tune for will net better MPG than ANY stock cobalt period, no matter wat year it is.

:D yea i haven't been able to do that much yet lol maybe it's time for a custom tune for better MPG

I been thinking the SS/SC Cobalt get better mileage than the newer SS/TCs.

Most of my driving is highway, and I have yet to get 30 mpg out it. (2 tanks at 29 tho) However the winter blend of gas, and very cold start up and cold air hurt mileage alot.

Pyros777 01-02-2009 11:06 AM

Yup best ever was 39.4 on one of my 350mi trips back home. Reset the mpg on the dic right after gassing up and drove non-stop. Made it on one tank of gas going 70--75mph. :D

Perfect.disguise 01-02-2009 11:06 AM

On a ~130 mile trip I was able to get 36.1MPG ot of it (a decent amount of hills).

Honestly if your trying to decide which one to buy IMO... Buy an 06-07 SS/SC in good shape with low miles. Then buy the Hahn kit for it and in the end it will have alot more power and still be cheaper than a SS/TC. If your looking in to it's "competetion mode" the WOT box is pretty much the same thing for the SS/SC.

klownin04 01-02-2009 11:52 AM

i am just looking for a driver not trying to race it just something to have fun in. I have been looking at them for a few months and it seems that even most of the 2008 that i am finding are in the 15,000 range and so ar the 2007's thats why its kinda hard to decide because its so close in price. thanks for the help guys

Perfect.disguise 01-02-2009 11:55 AM

$15,000??
If you can find a SS/TC for 15K (problem free) buy it.

monkeiboy 01-02-2009 11:57 AM

I've gotten 42 mpg with my 06 SS/NA on the interstate before on a three hour drive. But I was REALLY working my ass off for it. (slow accelerations, drafting off of big trucks, coasting on downhills).
I'm thinking the newer LNF engines are probably a little better on the gas than the LSJ, stock for stock. As long as you lay off the boost like everyone said.

forced_induction 01-02-2009 12:01 PM

i average 24mpg last time i checked on a moded LSJ and a driver with a little bit of a lead foot

orbalt08 01-02-2009 12:05 PM

I think the SC's get better mileage then the TC's. On highway I average 30-32 doing 70-75 with my TC. But driving slower i can average around 40 in town hitting all green lights and back roads. I have a TC btw

CruzinYellow 01-02-2009 12:08 PM

Same here. I have quite a lead foot and I average around 24-25 mpg on my modded 07 SS/SC

klownin04 01-02-2009 01:47 PM

every one says that if u get a tune that it will give u more hp and better mpg.is this true? How do i go about getting a tune? and how much is it to have it done? I would like to know some info on the tunes

It is 100% true. Some guys have claimed 40+ highway mpg on modded SS/SC's when they tune for mileage. Best bet is to find someone in your area with HP Tuners.

Try posting up in here to see if anyone in your area can help tune you

it would make sense that the LNF would do better being a turbo and being more modern, you cant go off the DIC on the supercharged ones though, esp if your modded its pretty far off

This would be ME

My car is tuned and on the highway I get around 40-45mpg ish depending on if its flat or hilly etc. In the city, it depends on how much I stay outta the boost  I would say around 25mpg avg city.

Its not that far off man... Fill your car to the nutz, then drive and record how many miles you go between fill-ups. Then use the miles you put on and the amount of gas you put in next time at the pump and calculate it out manually....

oh and I've also see my tuner get 50mpg on his tuned car, however he just did this for fun to see how much economy he could get
