Question 06 SS S/C Release Date????

I'm looking to buy a Cobalt SS S/C soon, and want the G85 Package. I've looked everywhere in Texas for one with a G85 Package, but can't find one. I guess i'll wait till 06 for G85 package. Also has anyone without LSD have a big problem with traction??

anyways, Back to original topic, whats the Release Date for the 06 Cobalt SS S/C????

As far as I know, most of the people that have the SS/SC without the G85 package don't really have any issues with traction. I'm in the same boat and waiting for the '06 models to come out. The '06 should debut around August or so. Some of the people will have more of a realistic date though.

There were none available w/ G85 where I was at either, so I just got a normal one....no traction problems for me, but I don't take it to the track either. I chirped a tire once but it was pouring rain and I took off hard. Definitely get what you want but don't think you'd be disappointed with an '05.

I don't have the LSD and I have no problems. Very little due to the fact that the drive shafts are of equal lengths. Don't see a lot of torque steer either. I would save the extra money if it were me.

I just placed my order for the 06 SS S/C at my dealer this afternoon..
it 'appears' that production of 06 should begin in the first half of July.. (he said they just recently placed order for one of the 06 sedans and apparently they got a build date for that of June 27th)
I made sure to place my order now because I want the Arrival Blue which goes away by winter.
I'm now beginning my 'waiting stage'
The guy I placed the order with is probably going to get sick of me emailing/calling to check on the status
I asked him to email me whenever he sees activity with the order ( such as getting a build date, getting a VIN# , actually getting invoice, and getting actual price etc.)
I'm hoping to get it before my birthday

I have had traction loss but that was on purpose In the rain I have had some wheel spins when at an inclined intersection making a sharp turn from a stop. You really need to baby the clutch in situations like that.

try a twisty road the dips and rises and apply power exiting the corner, you will feel the slip...LSD all the way!

On SRT's they picked up something like 2mph on the same track from a non lsd to a lsd 04 that is a lot....

LSD should be std period, none of this option crap, guess we are paying the
$1500 to cover the benefits that Rick Wagoner said is added to every new GM car for GM employee's

Everything I've seen on this board indicates actual 2006 production does not start until July 17th(or one of the teen dates.. too lazy to look it up)

Allocations will be given out this month, but that's about it I think.

Where are you getting this information from? They didn't even release 2006 pricing information yet. And they are going to have 2 weeks of downtime to switch over at the plant.

Went and test drove a blue SS S/C<------ i drove, and i was impressed. I currently drive a 99 civic and that thing was noticabely faster, and i wasn't even on it The blue inserts were awesome, looked really good. Also got to see a Yellow and an Orange SS S/C. Both which looked nice, but not for me, the blue is the color i want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Stereo was awesome in it, bumped pretty good, hehe. Overall, i rate the Cobalt SS S/C 10 thumbs up! hahahahaha anyways, im sellig the Civic now, so Hopefully you will see a post in the Pictures section of my new Blue Cobalt SS S/C. Some are better with sports cars and others know more about the standard SUV's and minivans. Depends on the sales person I suppose.
