29 mpg my ass

I have only had my cobalt for a couple week and have just broken 1000 miles (first week i had it i couldn't drive it to my construction job, long story). I know they say 500 miles is the break in period but it take a bit longer for a total breaking in. I just got 32.7 mpg on this last tank of gas and that included 2 pretty hard runs up through the gears (about 55K up to about 80). Speed of a GT mustang and fuel economy of an import. This car truly is a beast.

WOW, here lately I've been more gas-conscious and I'm getting around 31 in moderate city driving (lots of stop and go with a fair amount of steady idling) and I've gotten 40.4 with mild city/some highway driving. That's in an SS/SC. It's all in throttle/shift control. You don't even have to drive under the speed limit or be an ******* about it, I got mine with shifting low in the RPMs and not going above 60mph (speed limit varies between 35-55 where i drive, and I stay 5 over).

the magic number is 3k. If you can keep it under 3k rpms in each gear your in for a long gas tank

You know what's a cool thing to do when you're bored? Go on the highway. Hit about 70, put the car into nuetral, and then reset the mpg gauge. It goes nuts until you hit the gas again

i started going from kempner to temple every day and my gas mileage is creeping up to 35.5 and i thrash it in traffic and speed just a bit. i can go from kempner to corpus christi and still have a 1/4 tank left at 298 miles to my brothers door from mine.

I can get over 40mpg all the way home from work on the highway doing 70. Get around 36 going 80 and anything over 90 falls into the 20's.

Well, I have had my car for two months now, I have 1100 miles on it, SS/SC. Still says I am getting 23.4 MPG. I only take it on short trips to stores etc, so maybe that's why I have such low MPG? It hasn't changed much in the two months.

i rarely have it under 3k as well but I only meant that for freeway driving. geting on the freeway I always have it higher than 3k. I average about 26-28 mpg city driving and about 34+ on the highway on normal pump fuel 91 octane of course
