Called Chevy

Well.. with all the repairs that I've had to get fixed on the 2.4ss.. I called GM and complained. My warranty is up in November and I only have 24k. miles on her. She's a 2006 and has had the following replaced:

Steering wheel column (first time keys get stuck in the ignition) this was 2 days i didnt have my car
Other stupid problems. Controls on my steering wheel didnt work... (this still isnt fixed.

This was the 2nd time I took my car in......
Shifting Assemblly (2nd time keys got stuck)
Locking Mechanism inside the drivers side door ( i was stuck in my car.. door wouldnt open)
Blower Moter (heater was squeaking so loudly, i couldnt hear the radio)
Struts on the front wheels (going over speed bumps was freaking LOUD)
2nd time the roters have been shaved
2nd time breaks have been replaced

Now - I don't race.. I drive like a grandma.. Never even had my car above 90mph...

GM's contacting the dealership to see what is going on. They will call me back friday - hopefully they can help me out. I'm th inking of trading this cobalt in for a SAAB 9-3.. or something else... The 9-3 looks freaking sweet.

Anything think this is enough to warrant GM doing something? I really hope so.. lol

originaladrian 03-12-2008 09:36 AM

look up some information about the lemon law. its GMs worst enemy and your best bet.

phuwalt 03-12-2008 10:10 AM

http://www.attorneygeneral.gov/consumers.aspx?id=625

"Under the law, the manufacturer must, at no cost to the purchaser, repair or correct any defect which substantially impairs the use, value or safety of the vehicle and which occurs within one year after delivery, or 12,000 miles of use, or the term of the manufacturers express warranty, whichever comes first. If the defect cannot be repaired after 3 attempts, or if the vehicle is out of service for a total of 30 calendar days for repair, generally, you may be eligible for a replacement vehicle or the refund of the purchase price, less a limited allowance for use. First, contact the manufacturer's zone representative at the telephone number listed in your owner's manual"

Yeah that pretty much says I'm SoL. lol. Ahh well - guess I can only pray that everything dosent break after the warranty is over.

originaladrian 03-12-2008 10:12 AM

well you have to wait and let them try and fix it for a third time. after that i think ur good to go with some legal action.

I agree!!

fiftyandsoco 03-12-2008 01:47 PM

sorry to hear about your luck man. i bought my ss s/c used and have had ample problems with it, but obviously that's different. dude before me didn't know how to drive.

PinkStripedCobalt 03-12-2008 01:54 PM

I have a 05 ls, and have had my fair share of problems i'm actually thinking about lemoning it but still unsure i have already spoke to a lawyer and they have pulled my records and already looked at them....they say i have a case with everything i have gone through.....i have had my radio replaced 4 times now, i have had the air conditoner hosing replaced for leaking on my floor, doors will not open(when unlocked), or close half of the time, struts, rotor, electrical melfunction. I can't remember the rest!

Cobalt443 03-12-2008 01:55 PM

Make sure you check the specific lemon law for your state...that one posted is pretty general. Here in NJ the lemon law must be claimed by 12,000 miles and by a certain amount of months....etc...etc.

I've had A LOT more problems than that plus a motor replaced  Your problems seem like a cake-walk to me

tru2nrtt777 03-12-2008 07:21 PM

Damn, and I was bitching about the door handles rattling on my balt... LMAO!

mdaize 03-13-2008 12:23 AM

If you end up keeping the car, I would highly suggest you invest in a GMPP extended warranty...

See if you can get GM to cover most of it because of the tonnes of stuff going wrong with your cobalt, and keep hinting at claiming Lemon Law....

They may be able to works something out!

Ducky22287 03-13-2008 02:40 AM

Yea, just keep on top of it. I just had a bad expierence with the service people at the dealership because they run off a budget so don't take no for an answer if they say it's nothing or they won't fix it.

For lemons law, doesn't it have to be the same thing going wrong three times?

phuwalt 03-14-2008 08:07 AM

They'll be giving me a call today - I'll keep ya'll posted.

phuwalt 03-20-2008 12:38 PM

Well - I talked to Chevy who said - your SoL...

So im trading it in towards a Subaru Impreza. My payments will be lower and my insurance lower. Hopefully my dealership pays off what I owe on the car. Sucks :(

Jackalope 03-20-2008 12:40 PM

Lemon aid anyone? I say drag that turd into an empty lot add 5 gallons of gasoline and a match!

Yup they told me the same. GM customer service = useless. The dealer wrecked my car and would only cover part of the repair (bodywork but NOT suspension or rims) and GM took the dealer's side. Wonder when they will learn that the money rests with the comsumer, not the producer...

Oh shit, no wonder they are bankrupt!!

phuwalt 03-20-2008 02:28 PM

I called 1800 Lemon law.. they said they can't do anything unless the same thing happens 3 times....

But i learned a good piece of info

Chevy Cobalts are one of the most Called about cars at 1800-lemon law...

She said GM is the worst - then Ford then Chrystler... But its GM by far...

YSUsteven 03-20-2008 06:30 PM

I have seen just about all of these problems between my cobalt and one a friend owns.

The keys getting stuck in the ignition was caused by a problem in the shifter, not engauging the key unlock when shifted into park.

You just got an unlucky one.

You never mentioned any problems that would stop the car from going so it aint all bad.

phuwalt 03-21-2008 07:55 AM

Yeah she's traded in lol - got a 2008 Subaru Impreza. Dark Grey Metallic with the black interior. Gotta love the all-wheel drive! :)
