Thumbs up Dealer Screwed Me!!!!

I was supposed to pick up my Black SS/SC on Tuesday morning. So I get up a 830 in the morning and catch the train into the city. I live in the Western suburbs of Illinois. The dealer is on the South Side of the City. I get there ~ 1030. The salesman told me that he was going to trade another dealer to get my SS/SC. To make a very long story short, from 1030 in the morning until 900 @ night, I did not receive my car. All the paper work is done, all I had to do was pick up the car. The dealer he wanted to get the car from wanted another SS/SC in exchange for my SS/SC. He would not even except a 05 vette or the SS/SC!!! So After waiting almost 12 hours, I said screw it, give me my down payment back, I am not satisfied about how u guys do business. I got my money back and left. The price of the car was supposed to be $24,040 (dealer price). So the next day, I recieved 3 calls on my phone with the last call being a voicemail message. Well they finally got the car in. it is minus the Xm radio and onstar but everything else is the same. After deductions and taxes, etc I was set to pay $22,800 for a fully loaded SS/SC. The SS/SC that they have for me now is $22,000 dealer price. My suster gets a suppliers discount of $2300 plus there is a $1000 rebate on the car, now there is this everyone gets a employee discount of $1000. So Iam looking @ getting the car for ~ $18-19,000. Should I make them sweat a little bit or just jump right into it???

They won't sweat it! You might - if they sell that Car for GM Employee price to someone else you're back to square one! If they have the car - I'd go get it. If you don't like the salesperson you were working with, ask for another one...

My biggest fear for you is that you will miss this opportunity! The only reason you need to go back to the dealer is to pick it up. get the deal done over the phone!

That sucks.. but I would wait a little longer just to knock off a little more. Tell them that they inconvenienced you and the car is not what you wanted (without the XM etc.) and haggle a little more.. They may offer to help with other stuff too like free oil changes etc. or some other deal to help you out. It sucks that dealerships are like that.. I had my share of shady dealers as well. There are good dealers though so keep looking.

Don’t make a hasty decision on anything remember this is an important decision and you should be happy with the dealer as well as the car.

I am with CobaltChris. All the hassle you have been through may suck, but I suspect it's not 100% the dealers fault. If you want the car go get it and don't let the past experience with the dealer turn you off. In the end if you get a SS/SC you would be happy.

Plus no onstar and XM means no ugly antenna's on the roof Just an ugly antenna on the rear 1/4 panel

My brother-in-law works for lonestar chevrolet, and he got us a employee discount and the 1000 rebate. I got my LS sedan with sport package for 16.8 so for a SS that price sounds good...But i would def talk to the salesman about ur time wasted and the deal or cutoff he should give ya...or do what all carsales man hate to hear..."You can't give me any more money off...*turn look at another salesman* You Sir, can u give me a good deal so i can leave this guy alone". Salesman are getting there checks by selling...so if the other salesman can give u a small discount (1-400 bucks) to get ya from the other salesman...they usally work from there.

As for the quote below, dont do deals with oil changes.. Unless it's right in ur daily path cuz if u get a deal with oilchanges and the place u got the car is 50 min away. Ur not ganna want to go all the way out there all the time for a oilchange...so a oilchange deal is not good unless it's close.
