have a remote starter?

remote starter? as in the little key fob that you press and your car starts up? not so much.. but obviously you can always get one installed.

I think with the newer remote start systems that you have professionally installed there is a sensor that will not let the car remotely start if it is in gear. It makes sense, because there would be a lot of people driving through garage walls if it were not for this feature ;)

However, if you get a Do-It-Yourself kit, it might not have that feature, which means that you would have to be extra careful ;)

Nah, they jump about 3 feet forward...nothing too exciting. I had an idiot friend in a Honda who killed his starter for the sake of our amusement. :D
Apparently 50 Amp selenoids don't like being open longer than 10 sec at a time.....

I have a bulldog remote starter waiting for my cobalt when it comes. The bulldog has a senor in the control box that monitors a switch mounted to the parking brake. All you have to do is hit the button when you park the car and leave it running, when you get out the car will run for 30 seconds and turn off. When your ready to leave you hit the button and the control box remembers the settings for the trany and the engine and starts the car up

auto's - yes, without a doubt

manual - no..... manufacturers know that people are stupid, and won't fit remote start on manuals because of liability issues when people leave their car in gear.... ford offered them for a while, now they don't. think about it....

there is always aftermarket, however....
