Doing a build

So, I have this engine block in great condition it just needs to be machined. It's a 4 bolt 350 small block chevy out of an old camaro but I'm selling it and I want to get a used lnf or lsj engine block (bare) because I want to do the whole build myself since that's what I want to go to school for. I was wondering where I could find used 2.0 blocks. I would be down for either an lsj or lnf. Preferably a big turbo lnf build is what I want to do. Btw to anyone wanting to see my car, my Instagram is @colintheshark

Why not just build the 2.2? Doing the lnf swap is quit some work. Even the lsj

What you looking for out of the car? Get an used sc kit for fairly cheap these days and it's decent. I sc 2 friends 2.2 balts and it was an ease

Unless I'm retarded (quite possible), i don't think he mentions a 2.2 in the OP.

Thats what he drives though (says in other thread)
But Im not sure if he wants to put the motor in a camaro? But doubtfully

That makes sense, i missed the other thread and was wondering the same thing about what it was going in. cool idea, but i don't know how effective it would be. guess we'll find out.

I want to put it in my car since I love the way it drives. It's my only car though so I could put a 2.2 in it again but I need my car to drive and doing a swap wouldn't take that long if I have everything built like the engine and idk if I would need a new transmission to go with it because I haven't read up on their durability. But what did you have to do to SC your friends 2.2? New internals or what?

no_ss 10-02-2014 10:28 PM

So I pretty much need to do a build on the side or my engine needs to be able to withstand putting in a SC. I have a 2009 and I read that the internals are a little weaker than earlier 2.2 models (2007 and below).

After I get a Christmas bonus from my work and my tax returns I'll have a little bit of money if I manage my money right.

btw, since you said you've done it to a few of your friends 2.2l Balts, what would be the best way to get SC parts.

Yes your stock 2.2 can handle a sc on it. I think theres a full kit for sale in the parts add. You can get most of the parts from a ss

Blowncavy 10-03-2014 08:44 AM

If you spend wisley you can probably get everything you need for less then a grand. Maybe even less since u already have exhaust

any idea on how far i can go with boosting it? (Psi)

blueLNFftw 10-03-2014 09:07 AM

Buy a bare 2.2 block and build that.

Blowncavy 10-03-2014 09:50 AM

I wouldnt get hung up on psi. Id say a 2.9 inch pulley will be ideal

I used to have a cavy. Had m62 on it for years then bought a built 2.2 motor with a tvs blower. It was fun

any idea on where I would be for power with a supercharger?

Blowncavy 10-03-2014 11:08 AM

Depends. Id say with 2.9 be around 240-250 depend on tune

blueLNFftw 10-03-2014 12:51 PM

go look at the dyno thread.
its not gonna be as much as the LSJ.
