Forbes named us one of top unsafe cars

http://www.autoblog.com/2006/11/01/f...-cars-of-2007/
http://www.iihs.org/ratings/ratingsbyseries.aspx?id=527

Without the optional side airbags, our car was named one of the worst.

Yeah way back when the cobalt first came out I remember watching something on TV that said basically the same. 5 star with side curtain, 3 star without.

I agree...I think it was gm1fanatick or something like that in NY who was hit by someone doing like 45mph in the side, and he was thanking GM for making such a strong car...

Here is the problem that GM faces.

If they make the car more rigid, the impact will be more severe, higher G forces.

If the car is made weaker, which they are, energy will be dissapated while the car is being crushed.

The air bags stop you from slamming into the inside of the car, which can kill you.

Crushing is good for safety, just not the repair bill. Look at it this way, would you rather have to replace your car or replace your neck?

Everyone should get the airbags. This car is amazing, but it takes one decent hit to kill someone. I'd rather be safe than dead. Forbes is full of it for giving us such a bad rating. Maybe GM should make those side curtains standard to up the rating.

You guys should have gotten the limited edition armored Cobalt. Weighs 4000 lbs but you can drop it off a small building and come out alive!

Another point in fact is that you save $$ on your insurance with the airbags in this case too. So really in the end they pay for themselves...

Well you know how to solve this problem right?

Trade in your car for a Delorean. By time you reach 88 MPH, it won't matter if a car is in front of you cause you'd disappear.

True Story.

So you don't get into a sticky situation anymore, make sure you bring the napkins ahead of time. LOL
