Yeah, if I was looking to be safe I would have bought a H2, then I could just run everything over.

Actually, the Hummer's aren't that impressive...I've seen one hit a Dodge Ram...the Ram had the front sorta mushed in, but the Hummer was totaled! I was pretty surprised at that..

Safer Vehicle

I agree. I would also add this: If I was that concerned about safety, I would drive on back roads at 25 MPH.

I was a volunteer for a fire company and I've see what happens to a vehicle that crashes at high speed. I promise you that when you run into something at 90 MPH or more, an air bag does about as much as a napkin taped to your forehead.

At lower speeds they may help some but I try to make sure everyone is behind me.

By the way, I have a new GM Stage II kit for sale with the original receipt. Send me a private message if interested.

I like to get my car information from Forbes as much as I like to get investment info from SportCompactCar.

Trade in your car for a Delorean. By time you reach 88 MPH, it won't matter if a car is in front of you cause you'd disappear.

True Story.
LOL, so true.

As for side airbags and safety I don't care really. I guess many of you aren't old enough to remember a time when there were NO airbags in cars, let alone fancy smancy side airbags. I lived to make it to this point and I am sure I will live through my cobalt years too. If I do happen to die because of a car accident then oh well. You gotta go somehow. It's better then dying in a nursing home.

same here i had call of a brand new mercedies vs a 98-00ish malibu head on prolly around 45-60 mph each and the mercedies was owned and the malibu was not as bad (believe it or not) but he wasnt wearing a seat belt the airbags did help the mercedies person but lemme tell you this person flowed blood like the Niagra.

Screw Forbes. Look at the NHTSA and IIHS crash ratings.

Coupe Crash Test Results
NHTSA Ratings
Passenger: Excellent
Driver: Good
Side Impact Front: Good
Side Impact Rear: Good
Rollover Rating: Good
NHTSA: Excellent, Good, Average, Poor, Very Poor, Not Tested

IIHS Ratings
Crash Offset: Good
Bumper Bash: Not Tested
IIHS: Good, Acceptable, Marginal, Poor, Not Tested

Sedan Crash Test Results
NHTSA Ratings
Passenger: Excellent
Driver: Good
Side Impact Front: Average
Side Impact Rear: Good
Rollover Rating: Good
NHTSA: Excellent, Good, Average, Poor, Very Poor, Not Tested

IIHS Ratings
Crash Offset: Good
Bumper Bash: Not Tested
IIHS: Good, Acceptable, Marginal, Poor, Not Tested

These are published over on Edmunds... Not sure if they were tested with or without side airbags.
