High Mileage SS
 

Do you guys think buying a SS with 140k miles would be a bad idea? Im looking at this silver SS/SC and it looks super clean, but its got the higher mileage so im a little skeptical

Last i heard fidget is at around 315 xxx kms and he has a stage 3...Haven't heard much from him in a while to see if its still kicking, But maybe you can msg and ask him.

All of the maintenance receipts is reassuring, and 140k miles isn't a ton but it's not small. Even though it's clean, it's overpriced @ $5750.

OP as long as the car looks good and doesn't make bad noises, why not These cars are getting old so mileage is going to be high, usually.

2007 Chevrolet Cobalt SS

I looked at it, he is firm at $4800. needs 2 front tires, missing a lugstud, dent in drivers quarter, door locks don't work, interior lights won't turn off, paint on hood has rust under it, bumper was repainted and looks like ass, headlights are yellow, red paint on door panels/dash is fading, holes in dash, shift boot is ripped to shit, brakes look bad... and I didn't even drive the car yet

I paid 5800 for my lsj back in 2012 with 145k on it. Sold it to a buddy and it now sits at 215k without any signs of slowing down

My Cobalt doesn't have the highest of miles on this forum by any means However it is a 2005 SS/SC LSJ it has a stage 3 kit along with a handful of other bolt ons & I'm currently sitting right at 178k with no signs of slowing down any time soon in fact the older it gets & the more mods I add it just seems to keep getting stronger !

I'm still running strong with my OEM clutch, throttle body, timing chain, & water pump although I'm in the process of replacing my timing chain & water pump just to be safe. It's not making any noise but we all know what can happen if that thing goes out!

It's all about maintenance and how you treat it. If you're worried get a mechanic to take a look. I know most shops charge like an hour labor for a quick check.

I figure at almost 180k miles it's time for a new timing chain & balance shaft chain set along with a new water pump while I'm in there anyhow so I'll just be proactive & have the work done rather than waiting for it to make a noise that it may never make & then just have it go out on me & throw a piston into the wall!

I'm at 154k on a stock 09 LNF. Still original clutch even. I never did any modding or tuning though. Just 6 years of hard daily driving, id say it was the most reliable car I've ever driven, besides the usual cobalt recalls that were fixed for free. My roommate had an '05 LT that lasted 600k when he donated it to someone in Pennsylvania. At that time it was leaking fuel from the fuel lines and needed a new transmission.

159,xxx on my 05 SS/SC. No major issues. Stock Clutch. Only things that have failed so far were recall items. (power steering, ignition.)

Some issues with interior parts. But you know, GM.

I bought mine with 133k. For the price and what you get out of it I thought it was a good deal.

Guy on my FB group has a 2007 S/C with just a little over 300,000km and he drives the shit out of that thing and IIRC he hasn't really had any problems with the car aside from cosmetic problems (rust, fading headlights etc)

I'm impressed how long some of you are getting out of the stock clutches. Feel like I'm just getting mine broken in at 40K

So I just bought my 2006 Chevy Cobalt ss/sc sunburst with 368,700 miles. Honestly I bought it because of how clean it looked with this many miles. Why not play and have fun and see how far it can go in my mind at this point.
