i got 99 problems and a fixed car aint one..

Aight so this weekend... Decided to finally change out rotors and brake pads... Bought em from brake performance.com.. Theres a thread with the pics posted and price of what they cost of ne1 is interested... Ne ways.. So ive never installed brakes/pads/rotors, but knowing me i will not do it on my own cuz ill break my btakes lol.. I had a friend help me and he used to do brakes for a dealership and precision autotune.. Blabla bla.. So we knocked that **** out n an hr n a half.. Break fluid levels were great. Drove 20 miles no noises nothing feeling weak nothin out of the ordinary... Drivin home from my buddys place 12am sun mornin and i hear what sounds like my tire exploded.. I push on the brakes.. Pedal is on the floor.. I was only goin bout 30-25 so didn really have to slow down much.. I get out n look.. Bam calliper is layin on the bottome of my tire rim and my brake hose is jus pouring fluid out... I get the car car towed home check it out the next morning.. Pretty much needs a new brake hose and bolts to mount the calliper to the axel.. I should b good after that...

Top of the calliper where the brake hose was connected

bye bye brake hose

So of course every auto store n the surrounding area doeant have the parts so i gotta wait til after the memorial day weekend to get stuff.. Plus im jus gonna take it to the shop jus for peace of mind..

Sooo.. Human error or mechanical failure??

not sure how that happened...the bolts sheering off like that would have been due to over torquing of the bolts...and brake line...not sure how that even would be possible to fray the line unless it cut off when the caliper busted off.

More Problems...

so the brakes were a big problem, but now i have 2 more that popped up... please feel free to chime in with solutions.... first FIXABLE problem is..
Blinker does not reset its self when i turn the steering wheel after a turn. so for instance. i put the right blinker on and when i turn right, you dont hear the click it makes while you're making the turn, and when you return the steering wheel, it doesnt click the blinker off.. i took off the top of the steering wheel column and the blinker looks like its cracked, or is it supposed to be like that? any advice on that?

Gas Tank... ok so since before i had the O2 Sensor Problem and idle problem i was smelling gas(as i stated before in the other thread) i thought it was from the exhaust fumes, cuz it didn smell like fresh gas... so i figured once i fixed the O2 sensor it would fix it self. nope... when i was fixin my brakes a couple weeks ago my friend who was helping me noteced the smell too, and we looked at the gas tank we could see dripping from the gas lines... sooo.. any one have this problem? looks like it could either be the GAS tank, or maybe Fuel lines? it doesnt look like corrosion of the Gas lines.. but the shop i took it too said that he knows of the Cobalts having problems with the gas tanks, i dont believe that coming from him, but i also haven ever heard of that problem on here either.. soo, any advice on this one? im most likely gonna take it to the shop coming up here, but i wanna know what parts i should buy? im at 78000 miles im really thinkin fuel filters, gas lines, and probly the fuel filter inside the tank since its gota come down anyways.. i really dont see how it could be the gas tank.. lay the suggestions on me guys. preciate the help!

you'll have to replace the module for the blinker switch
