I just test drove my first SS/SC
I'm planning on buying one of these in the next couple of months, and I wanted to get a feel for what I am trying to get myself into. All I can say is WOW!
I love the way this thing drives, it can really get up and go. I'm moving from a 1998 Honda Accord 4cyl, and I havent really driven anything else.
This one had the performance package with the Racaro seats and the limited slip diff. Man, those seats hold you sooo nice. I cant wait until I get enough for a good down pmt. I'm really psyched.
BTW: This site is a great resource, I've been mulling around all the forums trying to get an idea of performance mods and such, and all Ive got to say is great job guys. Keep it up!

oh yeah they are. Its like night and day comparing my pos car to that car I drove earlier today. I love watching that boost gauge jump around
(the dealer didnt ride with me while I took it out)
I want the SS/SC in either silver or black, with black/black interior. I do want the package that comes with the limited slip and the recaro seats. I am thinkin that I probably want to go for the OnStar package, and maybe the six-disc in dash changer. Of course, I will opt for the side curtain airbags. I want to have that safety if I ... umm, dont drive safely for one reason or another...
Post purchase, I am definitely going to go for the GM stage 2 supercharger package. I want to try and get the gm exhaust kit too, but maybe add a resonator to quiet it down just a tad. Of course, there will be a cold air intake mixed in there somewhere, and more advanced mods later on.
I also want to get the smaller spoiler for the trunk (i dont like the big ass fin look) and the gun metal wheels. I dont think I'll bother with XM or the sun roof. Seems like a couple of options that I probably wouldnt make much use of.
The more and more I think about this, the more I am thinking I might have to be stupid and get a car sooner than later

btw , if u get the GM exhaust ....get the Touring version . Then you wont have to add a extra resonator to quiet it down . No power diff between Touring and Sport .

Silver, are you serious, no more recaro seats? bah... I even asked about those and the guy I was talking to said that they should still be available. Oh well, its not the end all... Any word why they discontinued them?
I just dont think that I would ever really use the sun roof, and its a $700+ accessory...
So I should opt for the touring gm exhaust, Silver? yeah I did think that the one on the car I drove was a little loud. I dont want the radio to have to compete too much with the exhaust, just a little bit.
Can you get the cobalt ss/sc with no wing on it fdny? I think i'd like that better, I just thought that you had to have one or the other...

I am prejudice against Dodges, so.... not so much. I've been doing honda, and its time for a change... I was looking at something along the entry lexus or acura, but I dont have that kind of money, and I like the community around the Cobalt. I've considered Scion tC as well, but, you get more power out of the cobalt from the get go...
In short, no, I havent test driven anything else, but I dont have any desire to either.

low profile wing looks
2007 Cobalts SS/SC do have Recaro seats. I just drove one a few days ago. Brand new on the lot. It was the new red color. More of a dark red with the chrome/polished wheels. Only differance with 07 and 06 is the wing options and colors. All SS/SC came with that high type wing, 07 you can get without it. Also the computer is a little differant, no stage kits for 07 yet untill they figure out the computer stuff. Or so I heard.
Hell yea! Another Cobalt SS/SC!!

There is something going on with the seats . GM stated they do not meet new 2008 safety requirements , it was very vaugue . MY take on that is that they did not want to be left with an over run of Recaro seats , and ended production early . It possibly has something to do with sensors in the seat that are able to detect the size of someone sitting in it . Notice how none of the SS/SC's have the "passenger bag off " thing in the center stack . I bet the later 07 SS/SC's will .
I went to the dealership to see what colors and options were available for the 06 ss/sc, and there were 2 sunburst orange, and 3 rally yellow... I wanted the sunburst a lot more, but it was a few grand more with onstar, airbag option, and the g85 performance package. When I asked the dealer what that was, all he said was it added performance recaro seats, and nothing else... so i did the search and found this thread..
does the g85 add anything else besides the seats and lsd, and would those options be worth the extra cash??

U know what pisses me off about srt 4s? all dealers are trying to over price the hell out of them. I looked at them, I drove a few and theyre fun, I wouldnt mind buying one of those some day too. back to the price issue... when i looked at them the dealers were asking like 20-23 for 2004s. just couldnt see myself doing it..... I like the cobalt more anyways... get a lot more comments from people and a lot more people asking "what is that, its nice!!!!"
