Industry rides these to fortune . . . or failure

Jan 31, 2005
Chevy had a good thing going with the sub-compact Cavalier, but guess what? It was probably one of the worst cars on the road, despite being Chevy's best seller.

Mercifully, the Cavalier is gone, and in its place is the Cobalt.

The Cobalt is larger and more powerful, and Chevy claims it's well made and offers the kind of performance Cavalier buyers never knew about, but buyers of imports expect.

If the Cobalt picks up in terms of sales where the Cavalier left off, there will be a lot of happy people out there who will finally discover what a new car is supposed to be like.
