Knock Sensor Low Voltage 2.2 LAP
Engine light came on in my 2010 2.2 manual LAP. Threw in the tester and got the Knock Sensor Low Voltage code. Does anyone happen to know if there is a common issue with Cobalts and the knock sensors? Is it likely that it has failed and I just need to replace it? Does the wire typically wear in a certain spot, creating an open in the circuit maybe? Anything else?
Just wondering if anyone has had experience with this before. Thanks fellas

A very common issue with the knock sensor is due to a shorted wire to ground. Look at the wiring harness right by the oil filter housing. There is a sharp 90 degree edge on the filter housing that will rub through the harness and short out the wiring. Open the harness at the spot where it is rubbed through and inspect the wires to the knock sensor. Repair the harness, use a tie wrap to pull it away, clear the DTC and test drive. I searched for months for the cause of mine until I noticed the wire was grounded.
