I have a head ported by josh already. I'm going to have him port another one with the new tricks hes picked up over the years, and maybe find something to do with it

Is your head VVT? If not I would be interested potentially.

I don't know what they used on hers but when I deglazed my cylinder walls with a dingle ball hone I asked around a lot from any source I could find and arrived at 320 grit for my 8600XX piston rings with a stainless steel top ring and cast iron second ring. It was hard finding a clear answer. But in the case here and with yours idk what grit would be ideal for your totalseal rings. On their tech page it says grit selection is tricky with different materials and configurations and to just give them a call at 800-874-2753 to let them know about your setup and they will make a recommendation.

I have the specs for the Total Seal Rings that I am using. I just thought the cross hatch in the pics looked very flat.

Don’t know. Took it to the machine shop and dropped it off. Thats what we have always done with our blocks.

I'm sure it's fine as you had the cylinders very slightly over-bored with slightly oversize pistons right? What I'm getting at is they didn't free-hand this and most likely had it in a proper boring machine that they have precise control over the rate of rotation and reciprocation.

If they were bored with a boring bar the last few .00? would have been honed. I didn't know it was bored over.

you can bore an engine with a honing machine. Highly doubt anyone would be using a boring bar in 2017 and still be in business.

They aren’t bored over. Just honed with a machine. And just stock 88mm sized pistons. They are just higher compression and forged.

Let us know what you end up with for a piston to bore clearance. My Diamonds were ordered oversize and after honing I came in right at specs.

Where did you get your block? Must have been in pretty good shape if you decided to go stock bore I'm assuming. I was just assuming you were doing the .002" overbore and were honing to get that perfect ptw clearance.

A seller. Don’t remember the company. It’s a 2013 gen 3 2.4 and it was super clean. Got it for $350 shipped

You can’t bore them anyways. The pistons I have were made for it. Can’t put oversized pistons in this. They are 88mm just like stock.

Found out that it wasn’t even really honed. It was deglazed....so we have to take it back and the specs are 220 grit. Glad y’all said something. After y’all did I started asking questions because I don’t want my brand new motor having problems.

I was going to say it shouldn't have been stone honed but didn't want to ruffle any feathers. You don't stone hone a worn, tapered cylinder. You're good up to .007" clearance for a boosted cylinder. If your installing new rings with those used pistons all you want to do is de-glaze it.
