Machine Shop For High Performance Ecotec Motors?

mods if this belongs elsewhere you can move it.

ill start this off by saying i dont post much here. but im looking for some feedback from cobalt owners.

my name is Bryan and i work for a company called slowboy racing. we build high performance motors but mainly deal with imports such as subaru, mitsu, nissan, toyota etc.. and the only thing we really do domestically is srt 4's.

im trying to gauge how much interest there would be to start doing cobalt work at our shop. if there is enough i might be able to convince my boss there is a market for it. we do everything from complete builds, to just blocks or just head work, to installs

how many of you would be interested in this either now or in the future? or what are your opinions on the market for this?

we could do everything from 2.2, to 2.4, to both 2.0 s/c and t/c work

heres a link to our site if you want to check out what were all about. its not 100% complete yet as we just moved rom PA to FL.

well thanks for the praising guys.

lol yea, unfortunately were pretty far from CA. we get stuff shipped from all over though. canada, jamaica, over seas in europe. we have a complete machine shop so people from all over send us their blocks and or heads to have things done. or we just use cores but unfortunately we havent started any ecotec stuff yet so we dont have any cores to do that.

no one else has any interest? or even input as to how much of a market there would be for the ecotecs?

lol, sorry man. boss wanted a change in scenary and business. and i love my job so i had to follow

i just really want to do some more domestic stuff besides srt 4's. and switch it up from all the 500hp and up imports we do. and being a cobalt owner myself im trying to convince him there would be some guys with cobalts or anything else with an ecotec engine wanting to build some serious power

unfortunately they do have a mixed rep. thats because they have went through so many engine builders and installers back in PA. thats another reason for the move to FL. all the srew ups got fired and left behind. we have a really good group of guys with us now. but even with the "bad" side of the rep from those guys there are rally car owners and people over seas that trust us with building really high end motors for them

The bad rep came from a shitty welded manifold that slowboy refused to fix, and when they finally did admit it was there mistake it came back looking worse then before it went out.

sounds good. we'll be more then happy to give you a tour. im always back in the machine shop so if you talk to the GM out front named Marti. just tell him you wanted to stop by and have a tour and that Bryan Novak sent you. we give tours all the time since weve been down here

in the future we will be doing stuff for bikes including dynoing

and car dynoing

and hopefully i can get the ball rolling with some ecotec customers

maybe you guys could have like a reduced price dyno day to attract some customers from the area. would give a great opportunity for a lot of people to check out the shop. and i will be passing by sometime this week hopefully

If I sent you you a complete LSJ shortblock, how much would you charge to pull it apart, sleeve it, and put in forged pistons/rods? This would need to include what it would cost for the bearings, bolts, machining, and labor. I will supply the rods, pistons & rings, and neutral balance shafts. PM me if you would like to.

Also, how many ecotecs have you built so far, and does you work come with a guarentee? Thanks.
