No Recaro in 07!
Well, i ordered my '07 Cobalt SS Supercharged loaded except the high polish aluminum wheels (i prefer the painted) from my dealer on monday. They got back to me yesterday and GM Canada says the Recaro Performance Package (G85) will not be available, for at least the first half of the 07 year due to supplier problems!! This only slightly discourages me as it will cost slightly more for me to get the G85 equivelant in my Cobalt. I am still able to order the Quiafe LSD and Recaro seats through parts! Has anybody else had this problem?

That is unfortunate. Ah well, at least i'll have the two tone leather seats in the rear and the door panels. And i'll have some nice leather two tone seats for the supper table!

I talked with both my dealer and the expert who orders all the vehicles for the dealership, (and Mainline is a big dealership!) and he talked with the guy from GM Canada in Ontario. He said as it stands, there is no Recaro Package for 07. You CAN still order the LSD and seats through parts though...

Thanks for the info Cap. I'm just hoping GM Canada and US differ enough so that I can have an 07 with G85, but I'm not so sure thats gonna happen.
Gah...
I was so dead-set on ordering an 07 with the G85 package next friday.
The dealership happens to have an 06 SS S/C w/ G85 on hand RIGHT NOW, but I was hoping to get an 07 for a few reasons:
Now, I WANT to just wait for 07s to be available with G85 again, but as of right now I dont have a car thanks to an accident I had two weeks ago, and if the car gets written off I will really be screwed. I can only bum rides for so long, and the guys insurance isnt giving me a rental.
Now I'm wondering if I should bite the bullet and grab the 06 this week, or order the 07 ASAP and add the G85 package later.
My only concerns about installing the G85 package later is that the service department at my dealership isnt best known for hiring the most qualified individuals. The few times I have taken my cav there, I get it back with something else wrong with it, or in one case grease all over the shifter that ate away at the PRND panel.
Well my little world just crumbled to pieces after seeing this thread. Think I'll go out and have some drinks! lol
If anyone finds out anything more please share.

- Possible fixes to some of the problems 05 & 06 owners are seeing
- Miscellanous changes that arent really mentioned anywhere like they did from 05 to 06 (engine mounts, some ECM code, etc)
- New 6-CD in-dash & 3 spoke steering wheel
- Whatever else I didnt mention that might have changed from 06 to 07

Sorry to kill your day, i wasn't at all pleased either. Ya i picked the 07 model year over the 06's for the same reason you mentioned. I'll keep posted should anything change. And hopefully they don't write you off!

Crap.
I just went to the chevrolet site to see if I could build and price an 07. Well, that option isnt available for 07 yet, so I went ahead and tried for 06 and I noticed something that really really sucked.
When I did the build and price thing a few weeks ago, the option for the G85 was there. It wasnt today. SO, I guess this applies for GM as a whole, not just GM Canada.
Darnit!

Thanks.
The inventory manager at my dealership said the ordering system is down on the weekends, so tommorow right after work I'm going to go down and try to place the order already. I figure as long as G85 is in the system its not officially gone yet. I'll make sure to give an update tommorow.

Last time I checked, friday, G85 was still up for the 07 run. Thay had posted changes for equipment groups on the base models already so if G85 is gone, a much bigger deal in my opinion, it would have been up by now considering how close to production we are.
If GM had a supply problem, they would have known months ago, and considering the relatively small number of SS/SC cobalts they make, I refuse to belive that there is a supply issue.

According to the gmbuypower site, the G85 is still going for '07. I've made a mirror of the page, which also includes the employee discount prices.

What the hell is the LTZ sedan, just new name for the SS 2.4? Looks like they raised the DFC charge. Raised the base prices and maybe some of the options too.
For those that haven't seen that site before, a lot of the options are redundant since they are included in certain trims. I'm waiting for the other GM sites to come back so I can price one with options.

same happened to ion redline guys, no recaros for 07, due to airbag sensors that need to be in the seats, retooling is either not ready or too expensive to do on the recaros..

I ordered the Recaro performance package on my 07. The dealership hasn't called me with any problems about it yet. As for the G85 I still have to look up what that is... I'm new on here.

Well, I have an 07 SS/SC with the recaro package on order that will be coming in August/September.........seems like the G85 is in as far as it concerns myself....
I can't believe they wouldn't have that option in......
...maybe they're so back-ordered that if you're ordering now you can't get the package right away. I placed my order a number of weeks ago...

That sucks. If you can't get it, I would wait. The LSD is necessary on the car, and the Recaros are really comfortable. I don't understand why some people don't like them. I have a friend who is 270 lbs and thought they were too tight. After 15 minutes in them he completely changed his mind.
GM should at least make the LSD stock. I can't believe they didn't in the first place.

One last update, just talked with my sales manager. There is a contraint on the SS/SC cobalts, not the G85 package. He promised to call me when they open up the SS/SC for production.
Thanks
